Friend broke up with computer whiz b/f. Turns out he stuck something on her laptop that allows him to turn on her mic, listen in, activate the webcam, and all that jazz.
How do you remove that crap off a computer?

Without specifics on the program, the best thing for her to do is back up her files (photos, documents, videos, music) and nothing else. Then totally wipe the drive and reinstall the OS.

Really depends on what the program he installed was. Most of the malware/virus protection programs will pick them up with the updated database.
What a creepy tPOS to do that though.

Also got into her email and changed all security questions.

Can he shut all the programs down, go into Task manger, post the applications/processes that are still running. Then maybe could figure out what the specify program is?

Highly doubtful he is a wiz. Look for something like TeamViewer. This is used to turn her computer into a remote client and he can then log in remotely. From wherever he is he can control that computer. This is easy to remove. If it's there, go to the Add/Remove Programs area in the computer and remove it.

First off, turn off Wireless or unplug the patch cable. Dickface won't be able to control the laptop that way. Then go about cleaning it. Remove any unknown software. Look for unusual processes and services. Remove or disable them.
