Go with a 40 or bigger. If you have to run very far, a 25 will not be that quick.

Boat will do 30/35 depending on you have in the boat.

Negative ghost rider. I have a 25 on a 14' flat boat and top out around 26. 22ish when loaded down for duck hunting. Old motor (also 25hp) would go 30mph but that was lightly loaded and on flat seas. With a 16' boat I'd imagine you'll get into the low-mid twenties at best, although for fishing you won't be super heavy like you are when you bring a pirogue and all that crap for duck hunting.

Not a Chinaman's chance, you'll be lucky to do 25.

We have a 16ft pro drive boat and use a 40 yamaha 4 stroke. Do mid low to mid 30s loaded down during duck season. If we are just fishing we do mid to high 30s. Have done 40 using a gps with just us in the boat...
Basically the only place that boat gets used is reggio and delacroix. Every now and then you need to shite and get it b/c of a storm. Get a 40

Do you plan on duck hunting with it?
Don't many of the WMA's have a 25HP limit?

Always get the maximum allowable HP for any boat, I have never ever, ever heard anyone say they wished they had a smaller motor, but plenty say they wished they had got a bigger motor.

Never heard of this if true. A lot of WMAs have limited access areas where no internal combustion allowed and iirc there might be some 'no air cooled engines' areas but I've never heard of a hp limit.

Yeah there are lots of times I'm glad I can't go any faster than I can. Esp duck hunting solo, driving in the dark. I've hit stuff underwater going 25 and I'm glad as hell I wasn't going any faster.
