Regardless of one's politics, a tip of the hat is deserved for those brave people.

And I'm not just talking about currently, I'm talking about from the beginning.

We have had and will always have the world's best military.

just because I disagree with certain wars doesn't mean I don't have the utmost respect for those fighting them.

Always good to find common ground with folks on any side. Our military men and women are indeed the protectors of the Western world, and all that it has ever stood for. Good stuff, TT9.

Just watched the Unbroken trailer about a WW2 vet. If that doesn't give you chills, you're not human.

Your " type" was so humbled that they spat upon our veterans coming back from Vietnam.

Your type was so humble that they undermined their commander in chief in war time with B.S. lies.

Your type was so naive that you demanded a withdrawal of troops, against the high commands recommendations, and because of this fanatical naivety, our troops will now have to fight the same war over again.

Dumb people are dumb.

Last year I spent a lot of time on my TDY in Belgium checking out the Battle of the Bulge, then went south to Patton's grave in Luxembourg. I was in Germany working with NATO on the border of Belgium, lots of history in that area. Tiger tanks weren't something to trifle with, I hope you got some time to talk to him about his experiences.

unfortunately I didn't, he died when I was 4. But my mother (his oldest of 6 kids) has a big scrapbook of pictures from that era.

And as far as Patton, I believe the Russians had a lot to do with his death. He and Ike didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things either.
