Likely. I read it and can't wait for the movie. Would really like to discuss the ending w someone though.

(SPOILERS)

I know this is what everyone says, but ending was meh. I've heard both that the movie re-wrote it and that it's pretty similar. Not sure I want to know before I see it.

Can't friggin wait for the movie, I've always been a fan of Fincher. The trailers look really good too.

As for the ending

I took it that if Nick published his book, Amy would kill the baby. There's a passage near the end when Amy tells Nick that he has to delete his book. It goes:

"What if I refuse?"
She put her hand on her small, swollen belly and frowned. "I think that would be awful."

That's why he had to stay with her, because he has to protect the child from Amy, probably for his whole life.

Eta: I mean she would kill the baby during pregnancy, probably by throwing herself down a flight of stairs or something and making it look like Nick pushed her. She did the same thing with Hilary I believe.

The ending was kind of off putting to me too. I understand why he stayed but that doesn't mean I care for how it was written.

The rest of the book was phenomenal though and I can't wait to catch the movie.

Just dropping in to say that I absolutely loved the ending of the book. It was awesomely sinister. I have no idea why some people don't like it.

The most disappointing part for me was that the book was over. I really enjoyed reading it, especially after the flip. I'm interested to see how they tell the story, probably present day with Nick and then voice-over and re-enactment with Amy as she reads her diary, at least for the first half.

I feel the same. Very refreshing from the usual happy ending most people want and expect. Glad they didn't change it for the movie.

I finished the book last Friday &'I'm still thinking about the ending. Reminds me of how I felt at the end of the movie Primal Fear. I am interested in how people will feel if the movie ends the same.

I plan on reading her other 2 books.

I think people will want Amy to end up in a jail cell or dead.

I'm excited about NPH playing Desi, we'll get to see his range. I also have a feeling that Tyler Perry is gonna be really good and change peoples' perception of him.

Highly recommend them. I think they are also being adapted as movies.

Yes, I hated the ending. Yes, I wanted Amy dead or in jail. But that's not why I hated the ending. I hated the ending because I find it hard to believe that their situation realistically could end without one of them dying/going to prison. Them staying together as a couple is beyond absurd and you sort of have to suspend reality to buy into it.

Well it is a novel, you're sort of suspending reality the whole time. I find it hard to believe that a real person would say "poignant" or "moony" so much too.

I also wanted Amy to die, I thought it would have been cool if a few years later, the whole family is on a cruise. Amy is standing with their son on the deck, leaning on the rail overlooking the sea. But the kid is actually a psycho baby and he pushes her into the ocean. Then Amy is missing again and Nick is all "Aw jeez, not this again!"

Just read the whole book over past 24 hours. I hadn't even heard about it until last week, but I'm a sucker for book-movie adaptations because I like to see "my book imagination" come to life on the big screen and compare.

What a ride! So glad I picked this one up. I can only imagine the ending was left open to allow for a sequel. She would miss out on too much money to kill her off or put her in jail. After the movie, people will want to see more and will pay more to see their f'ed relationship. If they do the movie right people will want to hate Amy more.

Affleck was made for this role. Perfect casting. I'm not sure this Brit girl can pull off the psycho but I'm going to pay to find out.

If I were the author, I would print book 2 "amazing"... Then I would print book 3 Psycho Bitch....then book 4 could be from kid born onwards....$$$$$
