Can a professor have a mandatory lab on fall break?

Obvious answer would be yes since that is whats happening, I just feel like there is a rule somewhere that prevents this. Any one else having to do anything like this over the break? 2 hour drive tomorrow (be on campus for 7:30) and a 3 hour drive Friday (be on campus for 6:30.) Never been more bummed to be on 'vacation' in my life.
Can't find any info anywhere about fall break other than the dates. I know teachers have to work and students are out of class but I guess he's hitting a loophole with it being a lab trip.

Let's see, it was on our syllabus as probable. Not a makeup, we have weekly labs but since we have 2 open days they took the liberty of turning them into lab days. Class also takes an overnight trip to LUMCON but that's over the weekend. Good suggestion on dean's office, a reason I came here.

It is my understanding that no scheduled class activities can be mandated during the fall break. To inquire further, you could contact the Dean of your college or, if that doesn't work, the Provost's office.

I had a Dendro professor that had field trips planned every Saturday... Decided not to finish that particular course.
