Husband came into contact with poison oak and ended up requiring shots and antibiotics as it spread pretty badly and an area or two were beginning to get infected.

I've googled to see what to do with the clothing he was wearing and have washed twice in hot water with regular detergent BUT I can't find anything about the "sap stains" not coming out. I know it's from the oils but he's leary ...

As long as the clothes are washed is it safe to wear? Don't need this crap again .. he was pretty miserable.

Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks.

(eta: if it wasn't one of his favorite shirts and jeans I'd throw it out in a heartbeat.)

Thanks Tigerpaw ... let it sit for a while or just put it on and throw it in the washer??

Oh, and I did like the idea of burning and scattering the ashes over BDS but like I said, hubs loves this shirt.

you do this and you will be mopping suds up all over your floor.

If they are his favorites wash a couple more times and give to him. Let him decide if he wants poison oak again or can buy a new pair of pants and shirt.

got to Lowes and get some Greased Lightning. Spray 'em down, let sit overnight, then wash as usual.
That stuff will suck the oils out of your skin and leave your hands peeling within a day. Good stuff.

Shitload of water and the hottest setting on the washer. Use the setting that puts the most water in. LOAD IT UP with detergent. You are basically getting oil out. Wash them twice or thrice using this method.

Toss it and give him a blowjob. He'll move on.
