What would have happened if Walt had decided to sell his share of the 1000 gallons methylamine for $5 million? Obviously it was the right move but Walt's ego and bad-blood for Gray Matter got in the way.

But let's say he made the right call and accepted the $5 million. How would everything have played out afterwards in your opinion?

It wouldn't have.

The slightest slight to his ego would have triggered Heisenburg.

He would have been back in the game. God, that show was awesome.

But humor me:

If they'd accepted the $15 mil split 3 ways, after he would have just parted ways Mike and Jesse, would Walt have just met up with other area drug kingpins like Declan and started cooking again until his ultimate death by cancer?

Obviously a much more boring end than what happened in the show, but likely had they taken the deal.

He also would have been divorced from Skylar after this and been kept away from his family most likely.

No need too.

He would have eventually thought '5mil isn't enough'. He knows he can make the better product.

It's always an ego thing in Drug Dealing.

Still had the Whitman book like a dumbass. What if he just let Gus's dealers kill Jessie?

Whoa.

That would have kept the wheels spinning pretty much indefinitely.

The whole series to me really blew up when Hank found the book. That set off a chain of events that there was no turning back from.

His count-whore wife didn't help the matter much either.

Yeah but back up a bit. If either Walt "allowed" Jesse to be killed by Gustavo OR Walt had accepted $5 million for the methylamine, it's unlikely that book would have ever been there.

Haha. You know, I'm watching it back through again, and this time, I am a lot more sympathetic for Skylar. She's in an impossible situation. Because she's such a bossy person (and fricking Ted didn't help), a lot of people aren't going to like her. I have a lot more compassion for her this go around.

I liked her. Her reaction is what would be expected considering Walt's behavior and abscences. Then to find out his a drug kingpin? Plus, I'd tap that arse. She cleans up well.

The events leading to the book being there were prior to the methylamine situation wasn't it?

I didn't like skylar but still could sympathize, before the Ted thing. And she was so fricking mean spirited about it too. I don't think Walt made her that way, I think she made Walt the way he was by beating him down his whole life.

Does anyone disagree that but for the cancer, Walt would have probably lived his life just as before and died a mostly unhappy and unfulfilled life of relative poverty and dead end career?

I do not disagree.

To the OP, I'd rather see the Jessie getting killed plot. Letting Gus kill him would have been interesting.

I fricking loved Gus. He went too soon. I really wish they'd do a spin-off on him, sort of a prequel to Breaking Bad. He obviously has a great story to build all the way up to having that methlab underground.
