I got a new bow, currently I have it set to 60#. What grain broad heads should I shoot? It's a PSE Surge.

Also, right now I have both a red dampener and a black. Does that matter or should I just use one on each end?

100 grain Muzzy never failed me when I bow hunted. My bow hasn't left the closet since 2011.

Yeah, I just don't know the plus and minus to a heavier grain when bow hunting.

your FPS is barely going to change going with the 125 grain, and more weight allows for a harder impact. Also, what length arrow are you shooting?

What length are your arrows? If you shoot longer arrows 29" + you really should shoot 125 grain heads. With a shorter arrow you will still see a benefit to 125 grain heads, but you would be fine with 100 grain.

The more weight you put on the front end of an arrow (to a point) the better penetration will be. You will also see improved flight characteristics with a higher FOC.

The speed loss you will see with a 125 vs 100 will be minimal, roughly 8 FPS

Is your setup tuned? If so, just use the same weight as your field points. Otherwise, you're putting the cart before the horse.

Sorry it took me a while to get back to yall. This is my first compound and no the bow isn't tuned. Right now it's set to 29" and 60#. This is what I had the guy set it to prior to shipping it to me. I'm about 5-11 6 ftish so I feel like the draw is pretty good. I habe yet to shoot this bow because I haven't had time to get some arrows cut due to working late hours. Hopefully I can get them cut tomorrow and shoot tomorrow night.

100 grain slick tricks work for me but would use 100 grain grim reapers if I went with a mechanical head.

100 or 125 grain G5 T3. If you are only shooting 60lbs I wouldn't go above 125 for fear of too much arrow drop. I've killed many deer with 85-125 broadheads. Make sure they are sharp and well placed and they will do the trick.

I shoot 100 grain g5 montecs. 1 piece Broadhead, don't have to worry about it failing to open, hits like a hammer out of my pse xforce. Dropped a doe in her tracks once shooting one.

Use 100 grain. Why risk missing a deer low by a nut hair cause you bumped up to 125 grain. You're not hunting cape buffalo. Your KE with a decent/sharp broadhead will punch through any deer with 100 grains.
