bump in honor of the return of everyone's favorite Astros poster, Ryno.
The Astros improved the bullpen and spent money like you said they wouldn't. Unfortunately for Ryno, they are looking to improve every year now and this plan that everyone with a brain understood has been taking shape just like everyone has expected.
We all have printed the shirts and mailed them to each other for Christmas, except you Ryno. No one here likes you enough to do so.
Your thoughts on the Astros off season so far?

I'm actually kind of glad Petit cleared. I think he will be back up when Dominguez disappoints

Hoping the Stros still add one of K-Rod, Soriano or Janssen. Bullpen would be stacked.

Dude you are obsessed with me. I know I'm the best poster on the board and all but you should stop riding coat tails and come up with your own POV.
Go astros.
Go astros.

Personally I like this deal. I think Gattis could put up huge numbers at MMP

I like this too.
Sucks losing Folty. But Ruiz is in direct competition with Moran, so one of them was eventually going to get moved. I believe Thurman is projected to be a 4th or 5th starter if he makes it, so its very likely we aren't losing a top of the line arm by getting rid of him. And I believe Castro is gone sooner rather than later now too because of this. If he becomes part of another trade that upgrades us at another position (I'd guess for a starting pitcher), then this trade looks to be a win for the Astros.

I would be surprised if they plan on using Gattis as a catcher so I don't think it impacts Castro. We will see though, I may be wrong

If youre correct: Carter had too great of a second half to move him from DH (he is a liability in the field, so he stays there). So where else would Gattis go? Can he play 1st in case Singleton doesn't improve like we hope? Can he play RF/LF without being too much of a liability and they can just move Springer and Fowler over?

I think it would be Singleton back to AAA or perhaps Gattis splitting time between 1B/LF with a little DH
It seems like most everyone had written him off as a catcher going forward so that combined with the fact we have Castro and Conger already on the roster makes me think he's not going to be catching. Who knows what they have planned though
