Started watching Deadwood on Amazon last night. I have been meaning to give it a shot for a while. I am only one episode in but I like it so far.

Great show. Another one HBO cut off prematurely.
How did HBO ever let the crapfest that was True Blood go so long and get a proper ending yet great shows like Deadwood, Rome, and now Boardwalk Empire get the shaft?

Rome was insanely expensive. Deadwood wasn't cheap. A giant cast with large sets usually ends with early cancellation unless ratings skyrocket.

I've only seen season 1 of the wire. Deadwood was 3 seasons and I rate it behind the first 3 seasons of GoT with BWE a close third.

I haven't seen it since it first aired, but there is a scene in the 1st season that is by far the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in a TV show. I won't spoil it for you any further.
Season 1 is fantastic. Seasons 2 and 3 don't measure up, but they are still great in their own right. Season 1 is one of the best seasons of any TV show I've ever watched.
