Looking for a tv and receiver for my shed. Want 40"+ tv and a receiver that i can connect to the tv or play radio. Will be hooking 2 speakers to it.

I don't need anything near top quality but I don't want to get something that will break in a month. Walmart has an element 40" tv for ~$270 but it doesn't have the best reviews.

Lepy LP-V9s should do the trick for pretty cheap.

ETA: the Lepai a68 is similar and also cheaper. It's got pretty good reviews. These are both takes on a more feature-filled Lepai LP2020a+, which is as much amp as you can buy for $20, and it's pretty decent sounding.

That actually looks like it would work, I like that it has a digital display and remote. But will 20w output be enough? Basically I need enough power to run two outdoor type speakers loud enough to be heard over a boiling crawfish pot for example.

It'll probably get as loud as you want without distorting too much. What kind of speakers are you driving, specifically? Either the model number, or list of specs (2-way, 3-way, wattage rating, sensitivity, etc) would be helpful. They do make lots of other little amps like that that are louder, but an important note about wattage: to get something that is just noticeably louder than 20w, you need a 40w amp. To be noticeably louder than 40w, you need an 80w amp. The power must be doubled before your ears can even tell. So when you see these 200w amps, they're not 10x as loud, they're closer to four "steps" louder.

Now, you very well could need something with a little more power behind it given your noisy outdoors requirement. Remember, too, if I (or anyone else) can't find a better/more suitable model for the cost and you already have the speakers, you can order that thing first and test it out with zero worry. I linked an Amazon product. You can ways return it if it's sub par.

Thanks for the info and good points about Amazon. I guess I’d be looking for speakers something like this Dual LU43PW Indoor/Outdoor Speakers (White) (just a random not super expensive pair I found). I’m not trying to blow anyone out, just to sound decent are normal volume and able to get cranked up a little if it’s noisy (>1% of the time). They’ll be mounted inside as well.

And while we’re on the subject, I’ll need an antenna too to pick up over the air stations from new Orleans (40 miles).

So far on this trek with a budget of $600 (increased for accessories):

Receiver $32
Speakers $31?
25’ HDMI $12
25’ RCA $7
Roku3 $80
TV Mount $27
Speaker Wire $10
Total $199
Balance $401

Remaining:
TV $?
Antenna $?

$70 for a mount?

no no. LINK

I have multiple mounts from monoprice. ranging from flat on the wall, to pull out monitor and tv mounts. they are very well made and have had no issues with them.

They're refurbished, but you can get the 1 year extended replacement plan and stay under budget.

I can vouch for the picture quality on the Vizio E Series... I just bought a 55" and the picture is amazing for the price. I also bought a 50" LG recently and the Vizio picture is much better.

It would depend if you can get an extended warranty with them. It's nice to have that piece of mind, if buying used/refurbished.

if you're paying over $25 for a mount at monoprice you're doing it wrong.

i paid over 25 for the one I got. Only reason because I needed something that would extend off the side wall and rotate to the back of the room.

Get your TV in a pawn shop. Dirt cheap and perfect for outside.

It's a weekly threat on the tech board. AntennaWeb will give you what you should expect to catch and with what strength of antenna. Since this is for outdoor use, I'd recommend a strong outdoor antenna and mounting it to a roof as opposed to a smaller, indoor antenna, given your 40 mile requirement and likely possibility that mounting an antenna doesn't pose a cosmetic concern to a shed.
