My gf and I are looking to get away this spring, so we decided that a cruise would be a pretty fun idea. Looking for western Caribbean/Mexico/Jamaica mostly. Ideally shipping out somewhere within 4-5 hours driving distance.

Any recommendations?

No reason to depart from anywhere other than NOLA. I like Norwegian over Carnival.

Disney Cruise Line will return to Galveston next year. That's you best bet.

I've been on two carnival cruises. Both western Caribbean. We had a blast, but the western Caribbean is kind of meh. Cozumel, Cayman islands, and Jamaica. I want to go do something like virgin Islands/ eastern Caribbean now.

We left out of Nola.

I really like Cozumel, liked St Thomas, St. Maarten, and Puerto Rico. Grand Cayman is nice, but almost like being in America.

Jamaica wasn't that great.

Just got an email from Carnival. You can go on a five day cruise out of NOLA in November and December for $150 each + tax for an inside room.

NO is stressful to embark/disembark out of.

Galveston is much more laid back.

A 20-year-old passenger on a Carnival cruise ship in Miami climbed the forward mast of the vessel and plunged to his death Monday morning, according to the Miami Herald. The man, who was not identified, fell about 20 feet and crashed onto the deck of the Carnival Ecstasy, the paper reported.

Don't party too hard and climb the mast of the ship! LINK

Crazy cheap. I'd do that if I lived down there. Though when i go on a cruise, I always pony up for the balcony because I love having the fresh air, light, and being able to sit out there and have a cocktail.
