So I wanted to be Arse for a weekend...

Disclaimer: Forgive the shite pictures. Bad phone + too many drinks.
With my wife and baby out of town I decided to have an arse weekend. My friend called me Friday at 10 to see if I wanted to grab lunch at Galatoire's since his lady was out of town as well. Got there early and hit the bar next door for a Booker's and water to kick things off as I was the first to arrive at 10:45:
Friends arrived and after a couple drinks next door, we went to our table. We started things off with souffle potatoes, fried eggplant, crabmeat maison, shrimp remoulade, and oysters rockerfeller.
I always enjoy Friday lunches at Galatoire's even if it is the same thing everytime. Drinks and wine started flowing freely and we made friends with all of the tables around us as my friend started giving out recommendations to everyone.
A nice table from California started sending us bottles of their favorite Pinots and Chardonnays as we were sending them appetizers, so when it finally came time to order entrees I was feeling fantastic. The others at my table (who are all single) ordered some form of grilled fish. I did not:
I really enjoy Galatoire's fried chicken and have not had it in a while. It did not disappoint. More drinking ensued even with dessert as someone ordered the Cafe Brulot.
The liquor-cofee-spices combo is not really my thing, so I watched the show and had one more Booker's and water. I was supposed to go back to the office to get some work done at this point. That did not happen:
Our newly found California friends wanted to go to a bar on Bourbon, so we went to Absinthe house for drinks. After several hours, the California table was about to fall down and headed to their hotel in an attempt to sober up before some dinner they had to attend. We lost one of our friends at the same time. We found him in Bar Vin around the corner. We decided to stick around and order some champagne:
Patrick was in there having a grand time, but did not use the saber on our bottle unfortunately. After a couple more bottles there, we were getting hungry again.
Since it was directly across the street, we decided Revolution would be the best place to grab food. They took one look at us and thought it would be best to seat us at the bar. I started with the fire roasted oysters, crab beignets, bone marrow and a belle epoch:
Everything was pretty good. I liked the oysters and bone marrow best and always enjoy a belle epoch there.
Next up for me was death by gumbo:
I get this everytime there. The depth of flavor is awesome, but damned if that quail is not a pain to deal with after a day full of drinks.
The bartender talked me into the shortrib for my entree. Not sure why I ordered it as I think the sous vide short ribs all taste the same for the most part and lack the finesse I expect from a fine dining dish.
The shortrib was nothing to write home about. I am pretty sure the bartender was trying to sober at this point and he recommended the shortrib or veal chop to everyone in our group (7 deep at this point). Luckily I got to knock out half an order of the veal chop as well as it hit the spot substantially more than the short rib. It was fantastic drunk food.
We capped off Revolution with some bottles of Port and some Amaro shots given to us by the bartender as a bribe to head on. We moved on to Carousel Bar for more drinks until I finally called it a night sometime in the early morning.
I woke up the next day feeling the night before. I needed help. I decided to fight my way through a sea of ironic facial hair to get it:
Pizza D gave me the power to head to Publiq House to watch some football and grab more drinks. After the LSU game I caught a ride home and needed more comfort food, so we hit up Pho Orchid:
This is probably my favorite vietnamese on the east bank (outside of the east) and really hit the spot.
I woke up on Sunday hungry and determined to keep eating out so I met a buddy uptown for pupusa's at Macarena fro brunch:
I swear everytime I go in there it seems slow, but I think they do well. The pupusa's were delicious as usual, but I always forget which ones I like the best.
For late lunch, I grabbed Bevi with my family. I got the peacemaker and the spiced butternut squash soup. One of my favorite places, but no pictures so I added one from serious eats.
After lunch I went downtown to catch up on some work from Friday. After a while my wife called and told me she already grabbed dinner at the airport, so I should eat something. I took the opportunity to walk down to Luke to grab a burger and one last drink to end my Arse weekend before going home to watch that dreaded Saints game:
Not sure I could do this every weekend, but it sure is fun.

Very cool pics
Although you had a disclaimer, it looks like you took the pictures with a Kyocera flip phone from 1997.

Bruised and battered iphone 4 in low light is about the same quality. I had to greatly increase the exposure of most of the pics to see anything in them.
Am going to grab a new phone today.

You sure know how to do Friday right in New Orleans.

Everything looks amazing, but the amount of food you ate Friday completely blows my mind. Apps, gumbo, short ribs, AND veal chop for dinner alone? Holy shite.

That Friday though
Good thing you decided to have this weekend as an arse weekend. He seems to be MIA

Galatoire's looks like my kind of place. Very nicely done on Friday.

33?
My buddy Rich bartends there.

Yep. They shuffle everyone over to 33 until they are ready for everyone in the main dining room. The 33 bar is really great, but have not eaten there yet. I need to soon.

I had an old fashion and some tartar there a few weeks ago around 3. It was good.
Losers.

After a weekend like that, I'd probably have to take a week off work just to recover. My word.
