Hong Kong riots

How long has it been since Hong Kong was turned back over to the control of Mainland China? About 15 years? I really thought the sorry Communists would've totally laid down the hammer several years ago, but they exercised more patience and restraint than I would've imagined.
I think maybe one reason they have held off is because the rest of the world was aware of how much Hong Kong had thrived under British rule. I guess they couldn't just go in overnight and turn a democratic country with a thriving economy upside down.
I hope the HK people find a way to continue to keep those bastards at bay. Wouldn't count on it, though.

Communism will win in the end. For a citizen to posses a weapon in Hong Kong they have to go through a million different checks, and when they get the permit they can keep the gun in their house locked in a box but the ammo has to be kept in a location other than where the gun is kept.

It's helped Hong Kong that Britain's been very active in "protecting" them.

The Chinese think differently then we do. We think in terms of the next election. The Chinese think in terms of generations.

The settlement that preceded the handover said that the PRC could not impose communism or change the capitalist system for 50 years after the handover. This is also part of Hong Kong Law.
It would be incredibly disappointing to see Hong Kong go down the crapper this quickly after the handover. The UK would be the only ones that could make a fuss about this I guess, and even they can't really do anything.
