Interesting article.

A few tidbits - oldest bar in Louisiana was a gay/Pirate bar.

Kings Tavern — Natchez (Est. 1769) - Miss

What’s worse than tearing out a wall during a renovation and finding a dead body? Tearing out said wall and finding THREE dead bodies, plus a jeweled dagger, all of which date back a good 160 years. That’s exactly what happened in the 1930s when workers uncovered what they suspected to be the remains of original owner Richard King’s mistress, along with two unidentified males.

Haven't read the article yet, but I'm guessing you're referring to lafittes.

Sounds like the owner walked in on his old lady in a Devil's three-way.

Well, if you red the article why don't you type out the fricking name of the bar? I assumed Lafitte's too and was going to say Lafitte's is definitely not a gay bar.

I didn't read the article. I figured the reference was to finding two dead guys in a wall.

There is a part of the quarter that is nothing but gay or is this just a thing people like to say?

So everyone there is gay? Because isn't that where Pitt was throwing Brees and McConaughey a beer?

That pic makes a lot more sense when you put it in that context.

Louisiana's Oldest Bars

I guess Bruning's would have been on this list if it was still around. It dated from about the 1850's or 60's, I think. The actual Bruning's bar is located at the Food & Beverage Museum, which incidentally opens tomorrow.

Ok, so the rest of New Orleans is anti-gay. Still trying to figure all of this out.
