I saw a video yesterday from a hiker. The dude was just sitting there filming while the ash cloud was approaching. Crazy footage, but come on.

A bigger volcano in Japan (Aso-San) in Kyushu that I have been to has those concrete volcano bunkers too. It's a very mainstream thing in Japanese culture to visit these spots because Japan is basically a volcano-intelligent culture-hot springs (onsens) are commonplace and it's almost a given that these places are packed year around. People know the risks, but with millions of visitors a year, what are the odds, right?
