How good of a fighter was he?

Who has beaten him in real life?

Compared to today's MMA fighters, how much of a badass was he?

Theories on his death?

He really was a legit badass. When he was making movies, people of all shapes and sizes used to challenge him to fight, and he never lost. One guy climbed over the fence into his back yard to get an arse-whooping.

MMA guys today study and revere him. No one is the baddest man in the world, but I think he would have done pretty well.

Do a google search and include tiger droppings in the search. You should find a couple long threads on this subject. Basically, some of us think Bruce Lee was legit and the others think he was movie magic.

He never got in any fight against other fighters from his time so it's hard to say. Every video of him we have was all for show.

Hard to say because he never actually fought someone or at least there's no video of it. He was strong and a martial arts master but he was also a product of Hollywood hype.

He would've been grounded and pounded/submitted into oblivion by even the most unheralded MMA journeyman.

Moving on.

Assuming all else equal (nutrition, training, etc) and assuming he was in his prime I think he would be a very good fighter. Many people forget that he practiced much of what we call MMA today. Stout has good points but I don't think you can write the guy off. He'd probably train harder than most of the white trash trying to be an MMA fighter these days.

People weren't all carrying iPhones around in their pockets back then. You're spoiled by the modern world.

There is a mountain of witness testimony, way too much for him to have been just Hollywood hype.

I honestly think he would have a chance with his style of fighting. If Tyson connects though it is pretty much over with.

Pound for pound the best fighter of his era. And he'd do pretty well today.

But he would not beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match. He'd have a chance in a street fight.

Product of myth, legend, pre YouTube 1970's. But if all stories were true and all his fights were on a cell phone or go pro he would be Kimbo Slice x 100.

He would be all up in Jiu-Jitsu. Even if just to say he mastered it.

Come one, man. You know how legends and rumors grow over time. I am sure there is some truth in some of it, but it all should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

At least if he had fought someone in a martial arts tournament, or any other sanctioned fight, there would be video of it to compare him against others on his level and not just some street scrubs.

But since there isn't all we have to go off of his Hollywood videos and hype and rumors by eyewitnesses.

"Bruce Lee was awesome. Absolutely awesome. He was fast as lightning, hit like a heavyweight. Great foot work, great defense, great offense and smart. The man was a true genius in martial arts.He could been world lightweight champion if he so chose. He was that good." - Bob Wall, Karate Champion in Black Belt interview 1994

"I've seen a lot of martial artists over the years, but Bruce Lee was the best. I was much older than Bruce when we met, but I was very experienced. Still, I could never touch him. He was so damn fast." - Jhoon Ree, Father of American Taekwondo

You can also add that Chuck Norris called him up for instruction.
