My guess would be that they are embarrassed by those other conservatives because they disagree with those conservatives on many different issues.

yeah i mean the 2 "big" issues right now are pretty easy indicators of a difference: if you are against (1) legalizing drugs and (2) gay marriage, then i have issues with you

how about if i dont give a frick about either of these things and never talk about them but if i were to go into vote, i would support both of them since i am already there and dont have to put any effort into it?

I don't want to make this political, but I've seen arguments for both sides of this. For the record, I don't think this country believes in marriage anyway, so it's pretty much whatever. But I also am very against gay couples raising kids. There's a reason that it takes a man and a woman to make a child. And absent fathers doesn't suddenly make gay parents okay. It's fixing one problem with another. But I very much believe that the family unit is the basis of a successful society, and a big reason that we have gone to shite. /polirant

I'm not trying to make this a political thing either, but how is a man knocking up a girl and neither of them having the means to raise a child better than two loving adults going through a back ground check raising a child?

I blame the current and past family model of how things got fricked up before I blame a future model.

Right. Let's throw everything out because hey why not. Things aren't perfect after all.

things are getting better. just look at the sharp decline in social pathologies since their peak in the mid-80s to mid-90s

ironically, i bet most of us grew up at some point during this decade of horribleness, but we think now that the world is declining

It blows my mind that people honestly believe two people of the same sex shouldn't be allowed to raise a child.

No. Trust me. There are some pretty damn smart people who share this opinion. I have some strong opinions though. That's for sure.

Everything is telling me not to reply in this thread... I think I'll listen for once (after this post)

It blows my mind that some people honestly believe that we should instill an adoption system that guarantees that a child will not have one of the following: a mother or a father. I like to believe that those roles are completely different and at the same time, both necessary. But I'm pretty whacky.

But I think the most important part of my post is "whack." This thread should be whacked. I RA'd.
