Trey probably has the most ability but rarely performs to maximum potential.

I think Herring might be more technically skilled but Trey does a better job of expanding his sound. But to be fair, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

more soul and knowledge of songs and music than herring and trey combined. dude was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge abt real songs of america. I have seen all of them many times. JG was hands down superior- TO ME. and most people I know who saw all of these guys.
jerry FOUNDED the jam band scene. go listen to some old shows, bruh. it's pretty fantastic. that's a really shitty blanket statement you made about him not being in the top 5. laughable. he is the daddy.

i don't get the ignorance here. it is evident that JG was a freaking guitar god. Trey and Jimmy are fine guitarists- understood. but man- the breadth of the styles and influences JG brought to the table is hard to surpass.
