I'm thinking of building a fire pit around a 36" diameter, 18" long piece of steel pipe or something similar. Where would one go for such a thing in Baton Rouge?

TIA

Use an old tractor wheel or washer drum. Or you could find an old propane tank and cut it

You might have better luck getting a sheetmetal shop to roll a piece for you.

Friend of mine did that here in Lafayette and it wasn't too much money.

Stupp Corporation off of Hwy 19 in Baker. Don't know if they would give it to you, but they make all sizes of pipe there.

Much cheaper to get plate rolled than paying for a piece of pipe. Most places won't want to sell you just a small piece of pipe and will want you to buy the whole joint. Hell you could probably do a small reno to your patio area for the cost of a joint of 36" diam steel pipe

Call scrap metal yards.

No one is going to sell you that size pipe for a price that's worth your time. Agree with the scrap yard recommendation, and even if it's too long you can bury it in the ground to get it to the depth you want.

Just hide your dogs and tell the cops it's a BBQ pit.

Why dont you just buy a fire pit the size you want and take the bowl out?

I'm sure I have some pieces around here. What's it worth to you?

$83? if you have something heavier in that size, i'd be interested in discussing a price
