Amy Chozick is the reporter tasked with covering the Clintons -- and the runup to the now-almost-inevitable Hillary Clinton presidential bid -- for the New York Times. Sounds like a plum gig, right? Until, that is, a press aide for the Clinton Global Initiative follows you into the bathroom.

Chozick describes a "friendly 20-something press aide who the Clinton Global Initiative tasked with escorting me to the restroom," adding: "She waited outside the stall in the ladies’ room at the Sheraton Hotel, where the conference is held each year."

Yes, this may be an extreme example. And, yes, the press strictures at the Clinton Global Initiative are the stuff of legend. But, the episode also reflects the dark and, frankly, paranoid view the Clintons have toward the national media. Put simply: Neither Hillary nor Bill Clinton likes the media or, increasingly, sees any positive use for them.

There is not liking the media and then there is following them into the bathroom. One is understandable. The other is more then a wee bit creepy.

Is it possible to dislike both the media and the Clintons, and to just be slightly amused by this?

I would think it is as simple as the Clintons do not like the negative numbers HRC is polling right now. And they wish the MSM to aid them in any way possible to lift those numbers up.

The media is horrible in their leftward bias. Obama and the Clintons want that behavior greatly extended, rather than curtailed.

The next episode of "Dirtiest Jobs," eh?

I wonder when the reporter felt the creepiest... When being followed into the bathroom, or getting fondled by Hillary's husband?

I guess I'm not very bright but what would be the purpose of escorting a media type to the restroom?

Its a bit intimidating I think. People don't react the same I know I don't.
Also there is the subtle "We are everywhere and can find you anywhere".

They've watched too many movies and figured the reporter was going to sneak out of the bathroom, put on a waiter's jacket and mingle in the crowd to get some good scoop from the guests. The Clintons are notoriously paranoid.

I guess I can see the escorting to the bathroom part if there are restrictions on media movement but waiting outside the actual stall is a bit much. Did the aide think the reporter was going to go all John McClane and crawl around in the ventilation ducts to escape?

With today's media in the palm of our hands, I'm sure the Clintons didn't want a reporter phoning in or typing up a report on some device to file without them knowing about it. The Clintons are about message control, and always have been. Only a complicit media let them get away with the extremes they go to. There'd be foaming outrage if a Republican candidate was as paranoid and iron fisted with reporters.
