The grass is always greener on the other smartphone

It’s been said a million times, and I’ll just briefly touch on it again: both platforms are fantastic in very different ways. Android wins on notifications, general Google integration (obviously), and home screen experience. iOS wins on fluidity, apps, and camera quality. There are many more pros and cons here on both sides, but I’ll spare you; you’ve heard them all before.
The problem is that, as my colleague and friend Vlad Savov touched on in a June editorial, platform-exclusive features grow better and more important with each passing year. Choosing this incredible iPhone 6 Plus means being left out of Android Wear — the Moto 360, specifically. Choosing this gorgeous ebony wood Moto X means losing iMessage, FaceTime, and Continuity, which I’m really excited about. I enjoy FaceTimes with my family in Michigan, and iMessage is a better messaging experience than SMS for a whole slew of reasons. Sure, there are many great third-party messaging platforms, but everyone I know uses iMessage because they were silently and seamlessly subsumed into it. Users are the killer feature.
And there’s the fact that notifications are still, somehow, a dumpster fire in iOS 8. It’s 2014, for goodness’ sake.
There’s literally no way to have it all, unless you’re carrying two phones with you — and these monsters have gotten big enough so that there’s no way that’s ever going to happen. Plus, I’m probably going to desperately want whatever phone Google introduces when it rolls out Android "L."

It's really simple. I was an early adopter of android. I had 3 android phones. I got into rooting etc. Had a lot of fun with it. I had no desire to have an Iphone because the screens were just to small for me. I use an ipad and a Mac pro for work and really enjoyed that experience so when the 5 screens got bigger I decided to switch to try it out. Personally I much preferred the apple ios experience especially how all my devices worked together. And the stability of it all. After a while the Android phones seem to get unreliable and for lack of a better work clunky (I'm sure that has changed).
A good friend works for Verizon so I get to see all of the latest android phones and I just don't have a desire to go back start over with apps etc. I've had the iphone 6 for a week now and love it. The gaming apps are amazing looking and again, the overall experience suits my needs better. It's not a right or wrong thing, it's a taste thing. I might go back to android one day if I get bored with apple.

the latest iphone is a little better, but I'm sure the new droids coming out, will blow these away. I still love the camera on my Note 3.

Mine too. I'm just glad I didn't have to be "that guy" first

I solved this by normally having two phones, one of each type or more. Tech is awesome.

All mainline phones are great.
No way to be wrong.

People always say once you use an android, you won't go back to Apple. I've been on Samsung s4 since right when it came out and plan on switching back to iPhone. I have to restart my phone, apps, force close stuff so many times on Android that I never had to do with Apple. SwiftKey and screensize were the two factors keeping me with Android.

I wouldn't completely dismiss Android after one bad experience with a Samsung.

I'm not and if Android comes out with a really good phone in the next year, I would still possibly stay. I just think it's funny bc Android people make fun of Apple die hards when they are basically the same about Android. I wish both would continue to copy the better features from the other device bc all that does is give the consumer better options.
