We have all been asked that hypothetical many times in our lives but say it was actually true but with caveats. If someone came to you with say 2 mill, but wanted you to run a holding company that invested in some franchise and multi unit agreements and you would run the day to day.

What would be your top companies or sectors to go after? Would you look at multiple franchises or would you stick with one chain and try to grow it in your area? fast-food? gas stations? home-health? Everything is on the table.

What part of country?

I would do something I thought I could enjoy running and would be successful in my area. Multi unit operator.

Really could be anywhere but to make it easier lets narrow down to the south east.

First, pay the gift taxes. Then, take the remaining $600m or so and put it into a laddered muni bond portfolio at about 5% average coupon. Take the $30m/year tax-free interest payments and reinvest in more bonds. Keep compounding and thumbing my nose at the IRS because as MD Hammer said, "can't touch this!"

Gift taxes, if any actually are due, are paid by the person making the gift, not the person receiving the gift.

If I had the money and the time, I'd look into children's entertainment, in an suburban area with disposable income. Something like Monkey Joe's. Parents seem to like to want to do places like that for both parties as well as general playing. No one wants to play at home or at the park anymore.

There is a decent start up cost, you need a big space.

Metairie won't work.

Got to put it next to the universities.

Profit.

I may have looked this up before

The spawn of Dr. Dre and MC Hammer?

Teddy: if you find someone willing to open one in Lafayette, I will be willing to make a substantial investment.

It looks like they do not franchise. Houston just got one earlier this year.
