School Board said its inappropriate. A grandmother said "it encouraged kids to want to commit crimes"

Cliffs: $50 ticket (had to be over 21 to purchase) put you in drawing for winning one of 52 guns. One raffled every week. (Winners go through background check).

Sucks for the kids. No one wants to buy cookie dough and candy bars anymore.
Can the just raffle off bricks of .22lr instead?

Beekman Jr High used to raffle off a shotgun at every fall festival. In 2000 some liberals got offended and stirred up some crap which got the NRA's attention. Beekman sold way more tickets that year than any other. Like the saying goes, bad publicity is still publicity.

Nearest LINK I could find for so long ago.

Who is going to pay the money back to the ones that have tickets?
