Yamaha Sho vs Yamaha in-line four outboard

Can someone please tell me the difference between: the Yamaha V6 Vmax Sho 200 vs In Line Four Stroke?
Both motors are 200 horsepower and are for bass boats that are 19'6".
Went to the dealership today that had the F200 In Line on a boat I liked. All the other bass boats I have looked at with Yamaha's have had the Sho. I asked the dealer the difference and he said the In Line is $5,000.00 cheaper than the Sho. I asked him why the difference in price? I asked if the Sho is more fuel efficient. He laughed and said no. He basically refused to give an answer.
From my research I see that the Sho has faster take off speed. Both motors seem to weigh the same. I can find the take off speed for the Sho for the exact model bass boat I'm looking at but I can not for the In Line. It will not give me the option to put it on the bass boat. Just inshore boats.
Does anybody here have any experience with these motors? For a bass boat which one would you recommend? Is the Sho worth the money?

My buddy has the 250 sho on his bluewave. It screams on the water and doesnt burn a lot of gas. Not sure if its worth the extra 5k or not, but I will say that it is a great motor.

Not really apples to apples but a buddy has a 250 SHO on his party barge and that thing moves! 53 mph was the best we got it this summer. It's a great motor and very quiet. But as for it being fuel efficient, it's not. He says it drinks gas like his powerboat with a 454.

My 200 vmax sho is a short shaft motor. The long shaft was a vmax. Don't really know the difference except the cool sticker/design.

Yamaha V6 Vmax Sho 200 = run like a spotted arse ape
In Line Four Stroke = quiet as a mouse
My 2 cents, on a bass boat get the SHO.

Thanks for the input. For the price of these boats I need to be picky on my motor choice. Sho sounds like a good one.

I think the sho's put out a lot more torque compared to other 4 strokes. Closest thing bass fisherman can get to a two stroke's performance.

The SHO is close to the classic 2-stroke performance while still having the advantages of a 4 stroke (quiet and relatively low fuel use).
The F series Yamaha is very dependable and fuel efficient, but slow as a turtle by comparison.
I've run Yamaha's and Mercury's and currently running an F series, but considering going back to Mercury for the Pro XS model, as they seem to have figured out the compressor flaw. The newest Optimax series (Pro XS as well) have significantly improved fuel economy and some say at WOT the Pro XS gets slightly better fuel economy than the SHO. I guess what I'm saying is don't overlook the Pro XS motors.

I have the SHO 225 on my Nautic Star 2200 TE. As far as fuel economy, I have no complaints. If I'm running in relatively smooth conditions at about 3,000 to 3,500 RPM's, I can get about 3.5 miles per gallon. The SHO also has a great hole shot. It is really designed for bass boats as opposed to bay boats because it has a shorter shaft. I have also been told that the microprocessor in the SHO can be re-programmed to jack up the horsepower. Of course this will void your warranty.

The new F200 is a 2.8l 4 cyl. and the 200 SHO is a 4.2l 6 cyl.

I have a 200 Sho on my bass boat. It is a fantastic engine. I currently have 200 hrs on it without a problem. Very powerful, great hole shot, relatively quite and fuel efficient so long as I lighten my foot up (run less than 4000 rpm). Would not hesitate to buy another one.

Yes, put the two next to each other on the lake on the same boat set-up, and the driver of F200 will know what the back of the 200 SHO looks like, but will not know what the front looks like.
