I know that I'm late to that party, but I was saving it for a time when I could dedicate the time to it and watch it uninterrupted.

Have to say I was very pleased with the writing and presentation, felt a little slow at times, but I'm patient. Looking forward to binging through the following seasons, spoiler free, how would the MB rank the Mad Men seasons?

season 1 is average compared to the best ones.

I cant remember which ones are best.

It is a little slow but it does deliver off of those slow times, so be patient.

I started watching about a month ago, on season 4 now. Really like it.

It's my favorite show. I love Nixon vs. Kennedy episode. When the episode jumps straight from Cosgrove holding the script with Kinsey trying to get it back to the office performing the One Act, I lost it.

The show doesn't need the time to explain how it gets places. A lot of the times it shows you stuff, and you get to imagine how it got there. It doesn't assume I'm an idiot, and I like that.

I also will say that the show is even better on the rewatch. Once you know the characters so well, it's great to watch how well they are written even in the early episodes.

A vague spoiler. There is one character who is a douche in the first episode of the show, he slowly becomes a guy who kinda doesn't like the rat race of the business, but it's almost hard to notice with how beautifully the writing is done (like how sometimes you don't notice a friend has changed until you really think back) , so when I rewatched the show, I actually took the time to notice.

Season 1 is good at setting the stage, and also watching Peggy transform.

I'd go:

3
4
2
5
1
6 (although may qualify for Bob Benson bonus points)

I can't rank the seasons because I wouldn't want to put one in the bottom.

Mad men is the only show that I have enjoyed where every major character has been my favorite character for a period of time.

I have hated and loved Pete Campbell with the same season. Same Goes for the other characters.

I don't love Mad Men, and am currently a season behind, but season 1 had my favorite scene

FWIW, it definitely builds slow at the beginning of the season but the payoff is almost always worth it by the end of the season.

I will say I think it has one of the best written episodes in TV with The Suitcase. Easily one of my favorite episodes of almost any show.

We should do a board rewatch of the series. I'm itching for one.

Don't expect big things each year.

Mad Men is simply a sophisticated soap opera but on the slow burn where it forces you to attach to the characters and their story...Mad Men isn't about the show story...it's about the characters' stories.

It's also the best show ever put on television.

I watched the 5 seasons leading up to this year's release of 6 before the start of 7. I've been vowing to rewatch it because I adore the show. Drooling over Jon Hamm doesn't hurt either.

Season 1 made me feel like I smoked two packs a day when I don't even smoke. The SO does and she could barely get through an episode without having to go outside.

Almost at the end of season two.
