Out of the TD cookbooks what are some of your go-to's for winter weather meals (big pot dishes) As in Chili, gumbo, different soups? I was thinking of making the Lump crab meat and Brie Soup, has anyone tried to make it?

I would get the recipe from French Market bistro. I think they do the best crab brie around

I like all of the soups and gumbos. also on a cold night, I like warm, fresh cornbread with a big glass of milk.

Taco Soup

2 lbs ground beef/turkey
2 packages powder ranch dressing
2 packages taco seasoning
2 cans corn
1 can black beans (2 if you really like them)
1-2 cans rotel tomatoes
1-2 small cans green chiles
1 can red enchilada sauce

Brown meat, dump everything into pot, cook for 30 minutes, serve with crumbled tortilla chips, sour cream and cheese on top.

Look in the TD recipe thread stickied above as well as the TD recipe book. The link below has several other links to soup threads in it.

-Gumbo
-More gumbo
-Whatever gumbo is still left
-Potato soup, four days after Christmas, when you're down to only the last scraps of ham and the hambone to put in the pot
-Vegetable Beef Soup
-Beef Stew
-Huge pot of red beans and rice. It's not thought of much as a "winter" dish, but it's hot and sticks to your ribs
-Anything that requires extensive use of an oven.
-Seriously, is there any gumbo left? No? Guess I'll make a new pot.

EDIT: Sorry. I didn't realize we were limited to the TD cookbook and weren't just brainstorming. But, um, is that some gumbo you have there?

L.A. unlocked a previous soup thread that I've bumped, so please add soups to that thread so we can keep it going for future reference. Thanks!

Here's the link.

I use my crockpot a lot in the winter. Lot of lentil soup. It doesn't taste very good, but it's healthy, cheap as dirt, and fills me up. I eat well during the summer. But the winter I punish myself.

Some restaurants will email you recipes. You could try that and see if they give it out.

I added some recipes to the other soup thread I linked for you.
