It's more about fluke wins. The true "best team" never wins in H2H

Except in TDBL, of course.

Although maybe that was the fluke.

Thats why i want to reward the team that wins the regular season with a higher payout.

Id like that. Treat the reg season and playoffs as almost 2 seperate entities w equal payouts

Possibly. Having a minor league system may help with this a little. Teams out of it can try to load their farm with blue chippers, and have something to look forward to down the road.

I've yet to play in a league, regardless of the format or the buy-in, where a few teams didn't check out halfway through.

Yeah, its unavoidable for the most part.

HC isn't too bad. One owner just really doesn't know what the frick he is doing. Other than that, most are making add/drops and shite.

I halfway checked out in the HC league, but I was focusing on TD and another league that I ended up winning. That's part of the problem with adding yet another one to keep up with. I dropped out of the Votto league because I was never keeping up with it like I should.

My biggest issue with roto is that it can lose a little of its luster when you arent actually playing against an opponent each week. Plus, there's no playoff excitement.

I do like the IDEA of roto, but Im not sure it would be the best format in a league like this. That's why I'd prefer h2h with a higher payout for the reg season champ.

I like that idea of paying out reg season if we do H2H.

Would making the buy in 2x entry fee as an advance on year 2 keep people involved? After 2 years, you can either drop out or sign up for another 2.

1. 16-20
2. H2H
3. Snake
4. I always prefer ESPN, but they may not be deep enough for this. See Mookie Betts this year.
5. TBD
6. TBD
7. TBD
8. r/hr/rbi/sb/ops and qs/s/era/whip/k9
9. 19weeks playing each team once would work
10. don't care
11. Not me
12. Me

so if it were H2H, are you paying the overall guy as far as W/L, or are you paying out the guy who would win the league if it were Roto?

I'd be up for that. Won't know if it will work until we try it though.

If the entry were 200 per season, someone would have to hold on to 8,000 for a bit. I'm trustworthy as frick, but I don't think I want to be in charge of 8 g's, nor do I want anyone else to be. We could use that leaguesafe site though i guess.

Hmm, good question. I was assuming we were paying best w-l, but best overall roto rank would be an awesome way to do it. Hell, we could do both. Lots of cash to work with.

I was under the assumption it would be best roto standing as well.

Could we judge W/L by the top X teams like TDFL (stated above) and base it off that? Otherwise we'd be required to track roto for the regular season and and W/L for the playoffs, concurrently. I guess the issue would be the added administrative task of calculating the top X each week over multiple categories (the platform probably wouldn't have that feature). I also like what Gyno said. An even split between regular season and the playoffs with double the buy-in.

ETA: Or were y'all suggesting going roto-only during the regular season and only tracking W/L during the playoffs?

1. Number of Teams: 16
2. Prefer Roto in this format but either is fine
3. Initial Draft: Auction
4. Website CBS is the best i find for this type of league
5. Rosters C, 1b, 2b, SS, 3b, MI, CI, (4) OF's, U, (9) pitchers, (5) bench
6. How many Minor league slots? Make it 6 or 8 round minor draft... why limit slots? More people will stay interested if they can trade for minors to build for the future.
7. How many IR slots? 3
8. Scoring Cats: Any 5x5 variation or 6x6 for standard plus Ops and K/bb
9. Schedule, if H2H (We could make it 19 weeks long, playing each team once. Balanced!)
10. Entry Fee: 150
11. The commish (sorry, but I really don't want to do it )
12. Yes.. active people only. High money and dynasty should keep people who check out to a minimum.
