Any suggestions? Coming to town in Oct. and would like something besides Ruth's Chris (which I have nothing against).

Not a steak joint but maybe try the 396 year dry aged from Ruffino's that everybody loves so much.

does it have to be a "steak joint"?

Copeland's has really good steaks

Shouldn't have said steak joint. A restaurant that serves good steaks. Copeland's is one of the handful of places I haven't been to on my trips to BR, so thank you.

Ehhhhh.

I don't know that I'd do Copeland's, but I haven't had their steak, so what do I know?

I'd be willing to bet it's nowhere near Ruth's level, and since you brought up Ruth's, I assume you want something of that quality.

I know I know.

But nothing else I've had from there has been very good and the place attracts a meh crowd the few times I've been.

I definitely wouldn't suggest Copeland's to someone who doesn't live in BR.

I can't tell you the last time I've heard anyone talk about going there. On here and IRL.

And like I said, I highly doubt they're cutting meat in house and serving Prime grade steak, which is what you get at Ruth's.

We're there three nights, so a steak might sound good one night. Otherwise, we're all about Louisiana fare.

When I first read this I went " "

then I realized it didn't say "meth crowd."

I'm halfway through Breaking Bad so forgive me.

Best steaks in the city are Ruth's, Flemings, and supposedly the aged steak at Ruffino's.

If you're trying to go cheaper than those three, J Alexanders and Little Village do good steaks.

Never been to Doe's, but I hear it's very good as well, and it's family style steaks.

Weird concept, steak and hot tamales. The one Laffy closed in 3 months or less.

saw a food show where they went to the original in MS. It looked pretty tasty. The atmosphere reminded me of the Fleur de lis pizza but not sure about the BR one

I think the Doe's porterhouse is the best steak in Baton Rouge. They've got a good bar in there too.
It is a chain, but it's a hell of a lot different than Ruth's Chris. They've got vinyl checkered tablecloths.
