Is Bortles worth a pick-up?

I got Rivers as my starter and Locker as QB2 so I'm nervous about my QB situation.

I had RGIII....... Dropped him for Locker (after week one).

Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, Mike Vick, Eli Manning and Bortles are available now. Who should I grab?

I like Carson but he has a nerve issue.
Eli might be a solid choice (garbage points count the same as others).
Vick could be a low-end QB1 when Smith gets benched.
Smith is servicable.......
Bortles is an unknown...

Who should I grab?

They will throw a lot, and with throwing a lot comes INT's for a rook. Bortles will be better than Henne, but I personally would look elsewhere. Rivers will be SOLID, especially this week. Maybe see what Glennon does as well? He was solid last year, and McCown has sucked it up this year. Vick could be good, but I don't see them going to him. His health issues and age could hold him back. I think the Jets are trying to find their guy and will stick with Smith. He's not horrible... just young.

Rivers is a true QB1 IMO, which means he should never leave your lineup except for injury or bye week. So if you're going to roster a bench QB go for the highest upside. We know what Smith is going to do, which is just average. If it were me I'd go for the higher upside which is definitely Bortles, among the players you listed.

Can you explain why Bortles has more upside? Is it because he's unproven?

Since you already have Rivers in place, I would go with Bortles. Grab him and then see what he does. If he doesn't go off then The other guys mentioned or someone of equal value will still be there in a couple of weeks

Yes. You already know what you're going to get from Eli and Geno. We have no idea on Bortles (who IMO was the best QB taken in the draft this year.)

Rushing yards. And his g/f

but then again, eli isn't exactly slacking in that department either

Bortles has some weapons too. He's going to surprise. He's not the type of rookie QB where they dumb down the playbook and don't let him throw downfield
