Has anyone in the media asked miles about the last 30 seconds of the first half vs MSU?

30 seconds left, runs clock to 3 seconds left and then calls a screen pass. It was one of the weirdest sequence of events I've ever seen play out.

Lunch with les? Les miles show?

After 10 years you are still surprised at Les Miles clock management issues?

I don't understand why people don't understand this.

There was not much time left to end the half, so they let the clock run down. They did run one more play before the half that was simply a safe play, but who knows what would happen.. say he breaks lose and runs for a TD.. Who knows.. but there was no harm in running one safe play before the half ended.

There were 30+ seconds left after we had already run a play.
The play didn't get any yards so they looked like they were going to let the clock run and end the half.
Instead, we call a timeout with 2 seconds left, and then run a screen play for 10 yards to end the half.

If you think what you said explains why they did this, I don't think you understand

There no harm in running 2 or 3 safe plays either. Do you get it, apologist?

Care to explain?

I don't like the idea of giving up on the half. We were down, they got the ball to start the second half, and if we throw the ball we can attempt to avoid the double possession they ended up having

Just Miles being Miles.

F man, I used to be such an apologist too. But now it's like everytime I see a run up the middle I just cringe.

down 17-3 I would have thought they would have maybe tried to score some points at the tail end of the half. they run a play that sends the game clock down 27...26...25...

it gets to 3 seconds and a time out by LSU is called. why waste all that time if you wanted to run another play??? conservative coaches will run the clock out with that much time to just get to half time. whatever... that's cool.

it honestly felt like one coach wanted to run the clock out and another coach wanted to take the time out to run more plays... idk... it didn't make any sense at all.

if you wanted to run more plays, why let the clock bleed down from 30 seconds to 3? just to call a TO and run a screen pass?

seriously would like to know what the thought process was there

Cam wanted to run Dash Right 93 Berlin.

Les wanted 65 Toss Power Trap.

They compromised on the screen play.

eta: it was 65 toss power trap, sorry.

CLM is pretty infamous for these follies especially at end of half and 4th qtr.

No, it was a mind numbing decision. Basically Les out thinking himself.

You know when you're playing blackjack and you're on the fence about hit or stay? That's what that reminded me of. Les decided to stay and then at the last second said "ah frick it" and called a timeout and decided to go for the hit. Then he realized this could end badly.

Remember the 2009 national championship? Mack Brown calls a screen with around :24 seconds left inside his own 30. Ball gets pick 6'd

The smart thing to do is knee it into the half and regroup, you're not housing a screen against a prevent defense. It was the most bizarre sequence of the entire game, it's like Les was battling himself.

Can't take them with you to the locker room, and it was prolly Cam calling it wanting to be sure he had plenty time to come down from the booth to chew on some asses.
