According to this article, the rate of domestic violence has been going down for many years.

quote:

...domestic violence committed by intimate partners — current or former spouses, boyfriends or girlfriends — has declined by more than 60 percent since the mid-1990s, according to Justice Department figures.

It seems to me that is a major improvement.

Yes but it's election time and the libs need to make victims out of more people to win seats.

VAWA was passed in 1994. I wonder if it actually worked? That would be crazy if it did.

Its good that its gone down, but it needs to go down to zero. There is no reason to beat your spouse, whether your spouse is male or female.

It's unrealistic for you to expect that it could ever go down to zero.

Then you must also agree with people who say that teenagers should not have sex or that women should not become single mothers.

After all, we know it is unrealistic to expect all teenagers not to have sex or all women not to become single mothers but they are worthy goals to strive for.

Domestic abuse was more common in older generations, that was the case on my mom's side. She said if anyone pulled that mess today they would get shot.

I hope you're doing your part by paying more taxes to increase awareness.

I, myself, make an annual donation to Tempura House, which is a shelter for lightly battered women.

Most people have no idea how much women can get away with,

Being a woman is the largest possible indicator of getting a smaller jail sentence, higher chance of acquittal, higher chance of being found not guilty, almost no death penalty at all.

And if you batter your husband, nobody is going to say anything. Hell there are plenty of ER stories about men coming in with stab wounds, poisoning, and other injuries they couldn't explain. Its a real issue of women battering their spouses and nobody gives the slightest shite about it.

War on women my arse.

Read a story years ago where the cops got a domestic conflict call, arrived to find an old woman had stabbed her husband. Took the old guy to the hospital, booked her for attempted murder, or assault with a deadly weapon.

The old boy dies, so they get the wife and rebook her for murder, telling her the husband had died. She said, 'That SOB. I stabbed him before and he never died!'.

Its so sad how much women are treated like children in society. Those problem women that do batter their spouse leave them in an unenviable position, because battered men can't go to a women's shelter.

ANNND, if they fight back they go to jail. You can't win at all if you are battered male spouse.

I used to date a woman who worked for a domestic violence group. She told me they had absolutely no provisions for male victims whatsoever.

Since there are thousands of cases of domestic violence you will never hear about, that article is nothing close to the "real" story.
