The after surgery pain is the best from the gas they pump in you

Eh?
I just had the blissful absence of pain when I woke up.
I perfed mid surgery so I dunno if that makes a difference.

Ask for pain meds
Take it slow when you are able to eat after surgery(or you will puke)
Make sure to get up and walk when they tell you to. Gas pain after that surgery can be brutal and no pain meds will touch it.....only walking around so you can pass gas will help.
Make sure to splint you abdomen anytime you sneeze, cough or laugh hard after surgery so it doesn't hurt.
Make sure to follow the instructions they give you in regards to limits on exercise after you are released from hospital.
Good luck....we see several kids a week with this surgery. If it's not perforated you could easily go home tomorrow.

Sux, drove myself to hospital for mine, said it was minutes from rupturing.
Most pain I've ever been in, walking that first time after surgery still haunts my dreams.
Piece of cake procedure these days, good luck

1) Don't die.
2) Make sure you have a PCA pump for after.
3) This is the OT, so you're a dickbag, but we all are and it's acceptable.
4) If you do die, I got dibs on your stuff.
5) You'd better have good stuff.

Had to have mine out last December. A little advice, don't let them keep you on a liquid diet, maybe just your first or second meal, then switch to normal food if you're feeling well enough.
Also, as much as it hurts, do as much walking as you can, will help you stretch out that sore arse stomach you're going to have.
good luck

Just got home two hours ago. Sore as hell but not dying anymore either. Pathologist is a friend and sent me the picture of my appendix. Said it was ready to explode. The word "hot" was used.
Just took some percocet. I love everyone
