What would you do if you purchased a stolen ipod touch?

I tracked down the owner and will be returning it but unfortunately for the thief I also tracked him down. He plays basketball so my gut reaction is to track down his coach and bring it to his attention.

His word against yours. How do they know YOU didn't steal it?

Same as you. I found one on an airplane once and returned it to the owner. I didn't trust the airline employees to return it to him.

High School? College? I think that might make a difference.

Stealing an iPod is a shitty thing to do, but if you get this high school kid kicked off his basketball team that might completely ruin his life. Sports is what leads a lot of those kids to graduation.

Dafuq? I don't care if the kid is 10 years old, he needs to learn a life lesson.

Explains perfectly why Jamies Winston is still playing football and embarrassing himself and FSU daily. Please don't procreate.

No shite, but it would alter the way I handled it.

I think you just talk to the kid before going straight to the coach, but I don't know enough about this situation.

I had one stolen out of my truck at a carwash. Called the store owner and the cops. They came up with nothing. I went up there and talked to a few of the brothas that worked there. They all told me who did it. Turns out the kid quit as soon as he washed my truck and never came back. I called the kid and he said he got it. I called the cops and told them I found who had my ipod. They went over there and the kid said he didn't have it. That was the end of that. No arrest made for thieving despite all his co-workers saying he did (and the little shite telling me he did). Sorry sir, no evidence is what the pigs told me. That was it. End of Ipod.

A guy at the LSU/Wisky game behind us got booted out for puking all over himself and he left his wallet behind. The janitor guy tried to take it but we decided to go party on his credit card jk - my friend Facebooked him b/c his ID was in there and we mailed it to him. Douchebag never even said thanks

I'm actually surprised that the cops did as much as you claim in your story. It seems that them saying "tough shite" is usually how those stories end when talking about relatively cheap items like ipods.

Sooooooooo, you let him get away with it and he realizes that making money by theft is pretty damn easy and his odds are real slim he'll get a college offer for basketball so he steals again, and again, and again. Then realizes that ipods don't bring in the real money he needs but to get those high price items, he will need the help of a gun. So, he "obtains" a gun and starts getting the higher price items and making much better money, but then one steal doesn't go as smoothly and the owner confronts him during the act, so he's forced to use his gun.

Yeh, I'm convinced letting someone get away with crime is right.
