Rutger Student Mauled by Black Bear
First the DKE party casualty now a hiker killed by a black bear. It just goes to show you that you don't have to out run the bear. You have to out run your friends. Five went in and four came out. They say they decided to split up when the bear gave chase. Translation, homeboy got dusted by his buddies.

The bear was evaluating them, they ran and acted like prey so he assumed they were. If they stay together, maintain eye contact and yell to scare the bear off, everyone is probably still alive.
That's what I tell my friends when we are in bear infested areas, so that I get a good head start on running away.
