RIP Baton Rouge Blues Legend Rudy Richard
Posted by LuckySo-n-So on 9/23/14 at 5:11 am10
From Johnny Palazzotto:
"Rudy Richard, an unheralded Louisiana guitarist, whose guitar playing simplicity influenced many international guitar slingers, without them realizing the motivation they were getting from his playing, has “received his hat.” He has joined his fellow blues legend buddies, Lonesome Sundown, Leftie Richard, Slim Harpo, Raful Neal, Guitar Kelly, Silas Hogan, Chuck Mitchell, Buddy Stewart and Tabby Thomas. The sting on “I’m a King Bee” motivated guitarist everywhere to extenuate playing sounds to convey the feeling. Rudy was an innovator of spiritual values. Everybody loved Rudy Richard and Rudy Richard loved him or her back. His playing simplicity was exemplary and spiritual to the max. He licks paved the wave for guitar legends. An a American Dream Rudolph Richard. RIP"

Rudy was a great guy. Got to hang out with him many a times back in the early 90s.
Larry Garner had just recently put on a benefit for Rudy at Phil Brady's, and Rudy was able to feel the love from his fans and friends one last time.
