Anyone that can win a battle round with You've Got A Friend is a beast. I've liked JDC since his audition and he continues to impress. There was something about his performance that made me feel like I was watching a major star in a concert just breaking a song down and doing something simple. That's not a quality that can be bottled and handed out, you either have it or you don't.

I liked Bryana's song choice, she had some moments in it that really impressed me (the high falsetto was really nice). I would have liked to see Sugar step out of her zone a bit more, but she will be excellent with Pharrell.

I really liked Damien's performance but... damn... does that dude have to cry (or look like he's about to cry) at any given moment?

Danica is a beast (not a reference to her weight, btw). She sexed my ears with that Whitney songs, and I liked it. Katriz really paid attention to the pointers she was given but there is an odd thing she was doing that bugged me... She doesn't open her mouth enough. Some of the power moments were lessened by this. She's got talent but needs much more work.

One thing that is noticeable is how much Gwen and Pharrell seem to genuinely care about the show and its contestants. That's pretty cool to see, and obviously a huge step up from people like Christina and CeeLo, and even Shakira and Ursher (though they care more than the former). But Pharrell and Gwen seem to genuinely get excited at times, and you can tell they appreciate being on the show.

It's really cool to see them all at work, this season. I hope it stays this way for the lives. Pharrell really gets into it whether it's his team member or someone else's when the performance is one he likes. If Christina comes back, it's going to be difficult to stomach. I'm really enjoying both of the newbies on the show. Pharrell really gets down to business. This is showing all the signs of a very good season. Good competition and the judges are really contributing to the quality of the show so far.

So the big choice tonight was Pharrell sticking with Elyjah through a weak performance. I agreed with it. He has a higher ceiling. I saw it coming the whole way.

Also, I rewatched Damien from last night. He is going to be a star. He is going to sell out so many shows to middle aged white women.

Watching now.

Taylor John v Troy-for some reason, Troy looks sort of silly dancing around the way he does it. I loved the beginning. He lost me during the rocking part. Taylor had my attention the entire time. Great job. Taylor has it for me by a lot. Good choice Gwen.

Alessandra v Mia- I thought Alessandra would knock it out of the park. She had some big moments, but I didn't love it. Mia takes this. Right again. No steal.

Elyjuh v Ricky-this is going to be good. I think my expectations for Elyjuh were too high. I didn't think he was as good as he has been and I really love this kid. It was missing something. I'm tired of Wrecking Ball, but he's dragging me in. I think Ricky won this round. Great performance. I might stick with Elyjuh because of his history, though. He's been so good and he's got great potential. I'd consider stealing him if Pharrell drops him. Damn! That surprised me. Should be a steal here! Good get for Gwen.
So, Blake has the only steal.

Second half of Monday's show:

Damien/Toia. Damien nailed How Do I Live. Crazy by Beyoncé is a bad song choice IMO...just too much rap-singing instead of actual singing. She did a good job with it, but it's Damien IMO. Pharrell was straight up INTO that performance. I think Toia may have actually won that battle, but Damien is better. Boom. Good call, Adam.

Jessie/Tanner. Your Song is an awesome song, but I'm not crazy about this version. And Jessie kinda does the weird pronunciation, so frick her. She did well, but still... I swear Tanner is 12 years old. He did a decent job and didn't win, but frick Jessie. BOOOOO.

Luke/Taylor. I expect Luke to win. He KILLED that performance..that was awesome. Taylor was pretty weak IMO, and it's weird to me that people were fighting over stealing him.

Last night:

Taylor/Troy.Hey Ya should be interesting, and Mad World is a GREAT song. Should be a solid battle. Troy sounds good, but it's a little too much. And the quieter parts remind me of Scrubs so much. Taylor nailed Mad World. He should win.. Good call.

Alessandra/Mia. Holy shite, Alessandra looks fantastic...love the straight hair, and that dress is bangin'. And she sounds great. I don't like Mia's low register, but it sounds okay. And her upper register is so strong. I'm just not a fan of her for some reason, and haven't been from the blinds on.. Hope Alessandra gets stolen...nope. Boooo.

Elyjuh/Ricky. Elyjuh sounds good, but it's nothing special. Solid though. Ricky sounded AWESOME just now...he killed that shite. Wow, Pharrell goes with Elyjuh. I'm not even mad at the pick because Pharrell means well and Ricky will easily get stolen. Can't believe Blake didn't try to steal, especially if that's his favorite performance so far.

I'm whatever on Taylor Swift, but she's doing a great job on the show. I dig her helping out.

Allison v Taylor-two totally different performances. Allison has pipes, but I love Taylor's tone. I'm with Taylor. So is Blake. Allison has a lot of talent. She'll keep improving. She's got a stage presence.

Beth v Ryan-looks like Beth might lose before it begins. Ryan has a very appealing tone. Easy on the ears. Stage presence still needs some work, but that's not hard. Is Beth wearing a bad wig or what? It's stiff. Ryan took that by a lot for me. No contest. No brainer.

Jean v Menlik-Jean is going to be hard to beat. I got bored during Menlik. Didnt appeal to me. Jean! No brainer again for me. She's a contender if she keeps that up. GEEZ, Pharrell, that wasn't as hard as you made it out to be.

Blessing v Chris-I like both of them. Chris probably wins this, but I'd go with Blessing. I just his voice. I hope the loser is stolen by Blake. Probably not, though.

Well, here we go on ff, dammit. I would have enjoyed that entire performance.

Grant v Reagan-Reagan is a cool girl. I don't think she fixed the annunciation issue though. Tough choice. I feel like Grant can get a lot better when he gets used to this. Reagan won this, but I'm not sure I'd send him home yet.

Anita v Craig-I'm biased bc I'm not a big reggae fan. Plus, I loved Craig. He sucked me in. He was awesome. I think Gwen keeps Anita and Blake steals Craig. Craig is his "girl". Yep, Gwen picks Anita. Mistake in my opinion. And, there we go. Blake is in business. Blake could take this with a country singer. James David is my predicted winner. I think Craig is a big contender if he keeps it up and has the right songs. Split vote, though??

Allison/Taylor. Both did really well I think. I'd go Taylor if I had to choose.

Ryan/Beth. Ryan is good but this is pretty meh. I really like Beth. She did great. But I think Ryan would do better in lives and Gwen will choose him. Yup. 2 for 2.

Just want to say again that I hate the way Gwen dresses. Her style of baggy shorts/pants is so unattractive IMO. It sucks because she looks great.

Jean/Menlik. Menlik isn't opening his eyes at all like they told him to do. I like him, but he sounds like every other reggae singer ever to me. I expect Jean to knock this out of the park. I choose her before she even performs. Does Adam have a steal left? He may steal Menlik. Yup...Jean just murdered that song. She should win easy. Boom.

And it's Blake with the steal left, not Adam.

Chris/Blessing. Chris is good but he's fricking with that awesome song WAY too much. He's talented but that wasn't a very good performance IMO. I like Blessing a lot but this song choice killed him I think. As much as I'd love to see him in lives (even though he can't see me), I'd go Chris here. BOOM. Call me Cokestradamus.

frick off, NBC. You show us a preview of awesome performances, and then skip through those anyway. You fricking suck, a-hole.

Reagan/Grant. Holy shite, I haven't heard Hit Em Up Style in at least ten years. It's a weird song choice, but I think she did an awesome job. She's a good performer. Rough start for Grant. Nerves? He recovered really well though. This one is tough, but I'd go Grant. I hope the nerves didn't kill him. Nope. Reagan. I'd have liked to have seen Grant in lives.

NBC, thanks for ruining who Blake stole/who wins. Also, it'd be nice to not save it till the end of the show when we know exactly when it will happen. I swear, idiots run this network.

Craig/Anita. Can't You See by Marshall Tucker Band is a top five song of all time for me. Can't wait to hear that. This should be a good battle. Sucks that I already know that Anita wins and Craig gets stolen and Blake gets him back. He killed that shite though, and I didn't even think she deserves to win. But she had a really good performance.

You know they thought they were throwing us off with the mention of the "girl" in the previews. Weak. Very weak.

Yeah, and that did throw me off for a minute, but Anita wasn't on Blake's team though. So he could only have gotten Craig back.

Taylor B-I didn't love that. She sounded off a few times. Might have been a little too country for me? She didn't look nervous. Gotta hand that to her. I think she needs to lose the nose ring. I hate them, though.

Chris-I don't like the song. I love his tone, but the vocal gymnastics in this song didn't do much for me. I'm sure it was a great talent, but I missed more of his singing tone. Too much "talking" and concentration on the breath thing for me. I really like him, but not that performance so much.

Jessie-I like her voice best when she's not doing the strange yodel thing, but I enjoyed that performance. Probably my favorite of hers so far. Oh, Adam agreed with me.

James David-I just love this guy. He's a natural on stage. Great voice. A future star. A little cocky with Adam.

Matt-great song for his voice and tone. This guy gets better and better. Really terrific performance. Lots of great tones among these singers this year.

Reagan-she's nervous, but she's great for her age. For any age. She looks great and sounded great in spite of some nerves. She needs to stay. She brought it.

Taylor P-nice performance. I like him, but I don't think this one is in my tops. I can't decide. I think ice liked his others better.

Mia-big moments in this song. Her pronunciations bug me. She's got a great voice. Big power. Not my favorite bc of the ways she sings sone words. Get rid of that and she moves way up for me. Carson, you're not a judge. You don't get to say "haunting".

Why does Carson get to say one contestant is going to have a show stopping performance? Stop it. Be the neutral host you're supposed to be.

Damian-I love Damian. That was slammin'. He better stay. Did I miss that he was from Louisiana? I don't remember that or I forgot. Damn fine performance.

Shut up, Carsin. Coco is comin' fer ya.

Craig Wayne-he's gonna slay this. And, he did. He's a natural on that stage. He owned it. Beat out James David.

Out of this group, I think the two Taylors are most at risk.

Looks like the early vote is along that line too.

Adam totally dropped the ball on the song choice. He needs to save him when he doesn't get the audience vote because he totally screwed him.

If Reagan was 24 (and she could be), I would be in love.

I think Damian has a great shot to win. I can see him pumping out albums already.

Taylor. Maybe it's me, but this sounds really terrible. It's like her voice isn't strong enough to sing the song, and because of that she's getting drowned out by the background singers and the music (and not because it's too loud but because she's weak).

Chris. Horrible song choice, Adam. Hor. Ri. Ble. He's rapping and not singing. I feel bad for him because he's good and got fricked by the song. He did okay with it, but I hope he makes it through to the next round so we can see him sing much better than this.

Jessie. She sounds really good. And for the love of God, she's pronouncing all of the words correctly. This is the best she's sounded so far on the show. And it's cool that they made it sound like a completely different song. But this is how you do a song that showcases someone's voice. Take note, Adam, so you can stop fricking your team over.

James David Carter. Love the song, but there are tons better GB songs to choose. Not his best, but he did a good job though. He's easily safe.

Pharrell looks so goddamn stupid in his hats.

Matt. fricking AWESOME song choice. Sucks for Chris that Adam is capable of choosing good shite. He did a good job.

I like song choices like God Only Knows, and even Two of a Kind (Working on a Full House) in that they are short songs so they can sing the whole song during the performance.

Reagan. I don't know the song, but it's kinda cool. She sounds a little breathy but I realize it's on purpose. But when she actually sings louder she sounds good. Pretty bad ending though.

I love how fast/easy lives are to watch. Just ffwd to the performances and listen to the coaches for a minute or two and onto the next one.

Taylor #2. A little awkward with him walking around with that guitar. He sounds pretty good though. Hey, brah...you're supposed to sing the song, not tell the audience to do it. Now I hate him.

And HOLY shite that dude's baby is gigantic. Wow.

I love Pharrell, but he isn't saying anything other than "you're great, good job." I realize that's sort of what happens on lives though.

Mia. That stage looks badass. That's cool as hell. Her low register is fairly weak. But when she's louder she sounds good.

Damien. This is pretty fricking awesome. He sounds fantastic.

Where is he from? I listened to it like five times and can't tell if he's saying Mamou or Monroe or what.

Craig Wayne Boyd. He sounds good, but I'm not crazy about the song choice at this point. Let me clarify, good song and great performance, but I feel like that could've come later on in the show.

Yeah, I was surprised Adam picked that song for Chris. He judges apparently liked it. I didn't get the song pick.

It's starting to smell of a setup in a strange way. A terrible song choice for Chris and a great one for Matt.

That was a professional performance with the trimmings. I agree that maybe it would have been better later in the show, but Blake is trying to keep him in and I'm thinking that Blake didn't expect it to turn into as good an overall performance as it was. He's going to have to step up the song choices for James David because Craig stood out a lot more.

Agreed. Craig killed it. He has the best stage presence on the show right now. I actually wasn't too thrilled with James David's performance and it had to do with the song. The key to that song is all the inflections and growls that Garth does. He got some of the inflections but nowhere close on the growls.

I love James David as I said, but it wasn't a stand out performance. I love his voice, tone and I know what he's done and what he can do. It's more than what we saw last night.
