Today after St. Louis' ballsy fake punt from their own 10, the NFL red zone guy says, "Now that was crazy. I'm talking like second half of Gone Girl crazy."
I chuckled at that too

Just got back from it
Liked it but didn't love it. Gave it a B
Very well done just some parts seemed weird. Like seriously, she's going to give interviews and go home covered in blood?
Also the box cutter murder seemed kinda horror film amatuer. Again I liked it a lot, just didn't love it. Wife felt same way

I simply could not buy into the possibility of them staying together.
That is the setup for a sequel.

I went and saw it last night at the wife's request. Really good movie. I did notice a hole in the investigation though. Amy told investigators in the hospital after she killed Barney that he basically immediately took her to the lake house and had his way with her that first night. Well wouldn't the police be able to look at the security camera footage and notice that she wasn't there the first 4-5 days of her being missing like she said she was?
Yeah, that was a plot hole that Sandra Bullock could jump a bus through. The last 20-30 minutes took what was shaping up to be a great movie and ruined it. I'll give it 3 stars. I don't see much value in rewatching it, which is where you get into 4- and 5-star territory.

^^^
I agree 100% with this
A solid B or 3 stars out of 5. Nothing special

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it... there were definitely some plot holes (especially with her getting away with killing Desi) but the wife read the book and said that they went into a lot more detail with that part.
I guess you can elude the fact that the security cameras don't show him bringing her there bound by saying they don't record that far back, but the scene where she staged the rape would be harder to explain, as would the box cutter. If she were really tied up to the bed, how would she get to the window where there was a view of the camera? And how would she get a box cutter? And if she did get out of the bondage, why wouldn't she just call 911 (the phone lines weren't cut) or get help some other way (they had internet) or just leave on foot?
Despite that, I really enjoyed it. The acting was all great, and I always enjoy a good ripping of the current mainstream media.

Finally got a chance to watch this and didnt want to start another whole thread.
I thought it was a great movie up until she shows up at their house covered in blood. I has so many questiuons after that.
* How does she drive all the way back to Missouri, but now call 911 after she kills NPH?
* As some have eluded to in the thread, that lake house was covered in cameras. How could her arriving, lounging around and then leaving not be on film?
* Did she get pregnant by her husband or NPH?
* The call that Pike makes from her hideout with the tip about the shed, would that call have been traced to where she was?
Maybe I need to read the book

quote:I almost stopped watching the movie during that 1st 30 minutes for that reason, but I had nothing else to do so I stuck with it.
One negative: The dialogue, in many places (especially in the first 30 minutes or so), felt like it was written by a book-writer - which, of course, it was. It felt forced, phony, unnatural in a few scenes. Like, people would never talk like that IRL.
Solid movie, didn't quite live up to the expectations that were build up for me.
