Astros vs Rangers (3 games) for the final time in 2014. We will collect OUR Silver Boot this week in Arlington. Tropeano on the hill tonight.

Dallas Keuchel has been shut down for the season after reaching 200 innings this weekend and will miss his final scheduled start.

Singleton benched, Carter in at 1st base

And who is going to be our new manager?

I hope that the front office doesn't take our improved second half and just stay with what we have going forward.

Good to finally get that boot back.

to him and Jabroni. Great seasons!

Speaking of Jabroni, he hasn't lost since July 27th. He is 7-0 in that span with a few no decisions and his last start was the only one in that span that he allowed more than two earned runs (he allowed 3 this past start). Other than wins, his season stat line across the board is pretty ridiculous: 2.73 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 157Ks in 154 innings. He gave up 2 ER or less in 7 of his losses or no decisions (shows why many believe W-L record is an overrated stat. He is 11-9).

No doubt.

Those two anchored the rotation this year

Kind of disappointing to see Singleton struggle at the plate this year. Hopefully next year will be a different year for him.

Great season for Dallas Keuchel. seriously took a major step up in progression and should be a staple in the rotation for the next 3 -4 years.

McHugh was a great find. hard to believe he was technically a rookie this year. Won 11 ballgames and ERA under 3.00 with strikeout profile. This eases the blow of Appel struggling to a degree. he was found money.

Players who should be gone next year:

Dominguez
Fowler
Villar
Grossman
Peacock
Qualls (he should be a 7th inning guy at best)

This team needs to go big in the offseason. Trade Fowler and potentially Castro if the right deal comes along. We have to get above replacement level players at 3b, SS and LF. Fowler could fetch some decent return for us. I would roll with Marisnick, Springer, Presley and add a starting LF or let Preston Tucker have a shot at it.

1b is a big problem is Singleton doesn't improve dramatically. his approach is awful at the plate but he is still young. I think the team has invested too much in terms of years to not let him play next year.

Finaally, add one more legit big time starter and three more bullpen arms. Perhaps Folty can close or become the 8th inning guy next year.

Still a lot of holes to fill, but above .500 should be the goal next year. time to start spending more money .

I agree on fowler but you want to get rid of a 26yo 3rd baseman, 23yo SS, 26yo OF, and 26yo pitcher. You're insane.

Dominguez needs to be challenged for his job after not showing improvement and Villar has work to do, but both are young. Grossman at worst could atleast be a good 4th OF. Gets on base a ton and judging by the way he hit after his last call up could hit pretty well. Peacock has pitched pretty well recently although I wish they'd convert him to a reliever.

Qualls is a good piece to have, although I also agree he shouldn't be closing.

I'm surprised y'all are so low on Fowler. I think he needs to be moved to a corner outfield spot but he provides value on offense. His OBP is .371. 2nd on the team to Altuve and top 10 in the AL. That's largely because of his 64 walks which ranks 11 in the AL. He needs to play in more games but I'm hardly ready to cast of a guy willing to work a walk and get on base.

I've given up on Dominguez. He's the Adam Everett of 3rd base. But I don't think his glove and can offset his weak bat in a rather weak offense. Check out his minor league stats. what he's done in the majors falls right in line with projections based on his minor league stats. And before you cite JD Martinez as an example of giving up on guys too soon, Martinez was an excellent minor league hitter but was given 1,000 at bats in Houston and never looked capable of matching his success from the minors.

Yeah. Dominguez just needs some competition. I have 100% faith that he can get back to a 2012 type season when he hit .270ish. The guy is still young.

But he does need some competition. Somebody to push him. And y'all know me, I really like Matty D.

Too early to give up on Villar

Fowler is here for another season

Peacock needs to make a permanent move to long relief

Singleton will bounce back.

I hope we keep Dexter Fowler. He's a good hitter and he gets on base for us. He's a great asset.

I don't care if Dominguez hits .298 if his OBP is only .299 he sucks. he is the slowest player in the major leagues. he doesn't show a lot of power for a power position and he strikeouts way too much. he is below replacement level. that means we could literally plug in Petit for 162 games there can get better results.

Funny how everyone was saying the Astros screwed Singleton when he signed his contract.

He has to be the richest .175 hitting 22 year old in the bigs.

I think they'll spend some money in the offseason. Finally have a little bit of momentum, now is the time to start filling in some gaps until the younger guys are ready

Don't take me saying Fowler shouldn't be here next year as me being down on him. I just think an OF of Springer and Marisnick with possibly Santana or Tucker in left. I also feel like Grossman is another Fowler. I mean you bring up his 64 walks.....Grossman has 53. I like Fowler ok, but if the team isn't willing to move him to left then he's worth more as trade bait.
