The Orange Bowl is now the Cap One Bowl, & the Cap One Bowl is now the BWWCitrus

Looks like 4 of the big 6 New Year's Day Bowl games are changing sponsors. Rose, Orange, Fiesta, & Cap One have been dropped by their sponsors.

It's the Capital One Orange Bowl, just like it was the Fedex Orange Bowl etc.

No it'll be the Cap One Orange Bowl
Its one of the 6 playoff rotation bowls so its not allowed to have a purely corporate name.
Hopefully the Citrus (or Tangerine) name comes back but that isnt confirmed.
This is shite is exactly why these idiot greedy arse bowl people should NEVER let their game become a purely corporate name b/c when the sponsors change nobody knows WTF game you are talking about anymore. Why they think devaluing their brand for short term $$$ I'll never understand. (ok I do get it, they are greedy short sighted fricks but... I mean come on)

And this is why I don't refer to the game by the sponsor if it is one with any history.
That bowl in Atlanta's going to be the Peach Bowl, that bowl in Miami's the Orange Bowl, etc., regardless of who is sponsoring it this week.

Agree..i remember one year it was Rose Bowl presented by playstation 2.
I think it is The Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual now.

Agreed, and I've always weirdly felt bad for the players who play in the corporate-only name bowls.
You know there's a former Bama or Florida State player out there who's showing his kid his ring from the Blockbuster Bowl and is simultaneously having to explain what/who Blockbuster was.

The sponsors are a large part of putting on the bowl games, so I am (reluctantly) okay with partial sponsor names such as Allstate Sugar Bowl or Rose Bowl presented by Vizio. When that is the case all fans just call them by the traditional name anyway.
But any bowl game that allows its entire name to be corporate is just ridiculous. Nobody knows where the f*ck those are and they have no cachet. Great point about the guy w/ the Blockbuster Bowl ring. The one in Charlotte has had like four names in a decade.
