This is why political debates are useless (duck dynasty)

There was a Shreveport mayoral debate yesterday (they called it a forum). Shreveport is a Dem town so the candidates are not distancing themselves from a Republican (the GOP lives in Bossier) but they are instead trying to get a leg up on other Dem contenders.
The question..."If you are mayor will you accept or reject the I-Bowl sponsorship of Duck Dynasty in light of Phil Robertson's inflammatory statements?"
There are only two honest answers to the question:
a. "I will take his money."
b. "I will not take his money."
No one would answer it. They just rambled on about how they were for goodness and against badness.
The Indy Bowl is in horrible financial shape. The teams are bottom of the barrel pics. The attendance is horrible. If the next mayor pulls the sponsorship the bowl will probably fold up.

Let Shreveport shrivel up if it's such an armpit of a town. Wonder when they will be bankrupt or at least make it public?

Shreveport has been seeing their tax base shrivel up for years. The Shreveport Times (very left wing) has called for 'Metro govt'...combining Shreveport with a growing tax base in Bossier. Bossier wants nothing to do with it and since Bossier is a different parish nothing legislatively can be forced into a merger.

Shreveport is my hometown, so I hate to see what is has become.
That being said, this is one more instance which highlights the fact that liberals are 10X more vindictive than conservatives. Why shouldn't Phil Robertson have the right to express his political beliefs without fear of recrimination? Isn't this still America?
And, what did he say that would really be that offensive to most Shreveporters? He's against gay marriage, but does anybody really think a significant percentage of Shreveporters disagree with him? Shreveport is a Dem town because the population transitioned to majority black, but people are kidding themselves if they think black people in Shreveport favor gay marriage. They don't.
That might be why there wasn't much of a direct response on this. Being against ssm and in favor of destroying ISIS aren't radical positions in Shreveport.
Slight change of subject, but I'll tell you what I think could become a Robertson-related issue. Willie's daughter Sadie is "competing" on DWTS this season. Last week was the first episode, and she was treated well. But, a lot of the SJW types had probably never heard of Sadie Robertson before. I wouldn't put it past some of the far left loons to go after her in some form or fashion, once they figure out she is Phil Robertson's granddaughter.
I would be willing to bet any amount of money that Willie took the time to get assurances from the producers that the show would not play up any kind of controversial angle regarding his 17 year-old daughter's "controversial" conservative-minded family. What a shame that it has come to this.
Nancy Pelosi's granddaughter could be on that show, and they would never have to worry about a thing.

Sadie has done some charity fund raising in this area and in Monroe. I don't know if that will insulate her against pressure put on the show.
