Sure, he looked outstanding. Clearly has a much better arm than Jennings. Just as mobile if not more so.

Higher upside. Should probably be starting just for that considering how close they are currentl in capability.

But his play against Miss State came in part, against back-ups. It also came against 3 man rushes, no real blitzing. He didn't have to run an offense from nuetral position where the other team is scheming against him. He didn't have to change to the correct run call. He didn't have to coordinate protections. All that of that is a factor when you're starting a game vs just showing up and throwing the ball against back-ups late.

Now, maybe if he would have had mor PT (and more importantly throws) against the scrub teams we play he could/would be further along in some of those other areas.

I think his progression will be a bit more like Jemarcus' first year. Came in late to win vs. Orgeon State. Completely screwed up in his first road start vs. Florida.

I know many of us are ok taking some lumps for the promise, but to assume what he did to State's back-ups in basically prevent is a current indication of his capabilities of leading this offense would be false.

so you want us to pump the breaks on basically the only positive thing from this weekend?

I would feel much better about Harris if he gained about 20 pounds. I'm scared that the line will end up getting him broken in half.

Put him in shotgun 90% of the time with 4 wide, and he is going to look like a world beater compared to that I formation offense he's not accustomed to running.

Will he make mistakes? Yes. Of course. But that's part of the deal.

He's just gonna look a whole lot better playing to his strengths vs. playing to his weakness.

My concern as well. Kid needs a sandwich. But he's very talented. I don't think Miles is going to be able to keep him off the field later in the year.

First of all, was Harris really playing against backups? Secondly, I know he wasn't playing against anything more than 3 man rushes, but on the other end, it is also worth noting the success he had passing the football when the defense knew he was going to be passing.

If he is the future and our defense isn't good enough to just have a "game manager" at QB. Then WTF would we not go with him now? Unless you think that Jennings is going to drastically improve. Its a matter of which player has more upside.

the vast majority of the replys you receive will be from people that don't know shite about playing football. the qb position is a lot more complicated than they think. they see one guy struggling and another coming in and doing great. end of knowledge.

you are correct of course. I don't think we should throw harris to the wolves until he's ready. especially if we aren't going to run plays that are designed to protect him. our OL or their blocking scheme or whatever goes into protecting the qb has gone to hell.

I don't think so. the center was a 2nd stringer, but not sure of anyone else. doubt mullen had all backups in at the end of the game, especially when harris and co were driving with 20 seconds left.

So how did we go from having a QB that out multi-million dollar coach felt could have started game 1 and was supposed to see substantial playing time in every game to a guy that we are afraid to play vs ULM and not start vs NM St? Out of fear?

Or, now hear me out on this as it could get a little crazy, we could start him against New Mexico State loud gasps and, dare I say it, throw the ball more than 20% of the time? Even louder gasps. Maybe try a formation that isn't goal line?! Audible fainting.

He is most likely our best qb. That doesn't mean he can direct THIS offense any better than AJ.
