I think its safe to say that the once great LSU gameday atmosphere is now dead

For the first games you could not really judge the atmosphere because of the bad opponents, heat, chance rain, etc, but saturday was a perfect game to see just how it is. You had a fired up up and coming SEC team, great weather and no other big events going on in the BR area.
I got to campus around 12pm and there was no traffic and plenty of parking around the ag center. I haven't been to this side of campus in a few years but I still thought that seemed weird. then I noticed that there really weren't a lot of people tailgating. around 3pm I decided to walk from the ag center to the track. I've never seen a deader/smaller tailgating crowd for a big sec game before. from empty to half filled parking lots to quiet, low key tailgates. I really was shocked. the gameday atmosphere on campus is about 1/10th of what is was 4 or 5 years ago and cannot even compare to 15-25 years ago. It really is amazing just how much the tailgating rules traffic procedures and price increases have destroyed a once great thing.
I won't get into how poor the in stadium experience has gotten. I think even the tv viewers realize how unentertained the lsu fans are during games.
i know catering to the big donors, corporations, suite owners and stadium club ticket holders is lsu's main focus but they really need to get their act together and remember what once made lsu the best gameday atmosphere in the country. lsu is on a slippery slope right now. i think winning is the only thing that is keeping these once die hard fans around right now. if the team starts losing 4 or 5 games a year there is no telling how empty campus will be. it really is a shame.

I'm not really worried about other people's tailgates. I was by the ag building and we had a blast. Stop worrying about others and enjoy what you do.
Blaming lsu because the lsu Fans of today are soft isn't the answer.

You should reconsider posting this stuff. Keep it to yourself after a loss.

Where the frick was YOUR tailgate party?

The fellows I went to the game with included someone who had never been to an LSU game nor seen the pre-game experience. He was absolutely amazed (meaning very, very impressed). Thus, I disagree with your proposal that the atmosphere is "dead".
Too bad we did not win the game, though.

Alleva killed my tailgate and Miles killed my passion.

I will say this.. After the way we lost, combined with who our next opponent is, combined with the fact that this will be our 4th straight home game...
Next week this campus will be a ghost town.
That being said, our tailgate was rocking this weekend and we will be out there next week too.

But, it is true! We were walking down the hill at noon and we were wondering where everyone was. There was hardly anyone tailgating in the lot between the Indian mounds and the math building. Years before that was packed! No one at the top of the hill. That used to be jamming with loud music and tailgaters. No one in the lot tailgating in front of the LSU shop by Mike's living quarters.

I've never given 2 shits about "Tailgate atmosphere." I'm on campus for one reason...the football game...so this complaint means nothing to me.
As far as that goes, when it mattered early and for a LOT LONGER than I expected, Tiger Stadium was as loud or louder than it ever has been.
But...Tiger Stadium can't make tackles, turn around and catch balls, not make strange 4th down calls at the goal line, etc. Eventually, even the most feared venue in college football will lose interest...and all the waving or arms by players by that point will be useless.

It doesn't help that MSU took us out of the game quick. That stadium was rocking for important third downs and such. It was game that just wasn't intense.
Now you are still correct that the atmosphere isn't the same as it use to be. I was sitting to a LSU lifer, he said that he was in tiger stadium in the 80s and 90s. He said there are probably at most 70,000 true loyal tiger fans (that is probably generous) and 30,000 are spoiled fans. But we are a spoiled fan base and it shows it in the fans. These spoiled fans would probably sell their tickets if we had a 5 loss season, those who were here in the 80s and 90s will never sell their tickets. I always love going to games because you run into the true fans and not the spoiled fans who leave after half time. I was surrounded by about 5 to 10 people who stuck it out to the end. I think those fans will be there through think and thin with this team. So will I

Which in good part is related to the Tailgating experience you trash.

I thought it was pretty decent. Don't know anyone anymore that has a big tailgate so basically walked over to Chimes/Varsity, ate, then walked around a while. Was disappointed Seranos had closed (used to like getting the big 44oz margarita and they usually had a band out playing). Overall, was with someone who had never been to La before and they were amazed at how much the state rallied around the team.
Only complaint was the amount of piped in music. Takes a lot away from the band. Thought the crowd was decent, except for the 4th quarter, but honestly it's hard to blame people after that performance.

All of my friends from other SEC schools are laughing at us right now.
The issue is that the people who want tickets can't get them. They can't get them because season tickets are booked for generations. Because those tickets are spoken for, it will be generations that LSU is guaranteed "sell outs" for home games - even though the stadium is completely empty.
So, LSU admin has zero reason to care.
Now, for why the stadium is empty. My argument is that it's simply not fun to watch LSU play anyone anymore. It's just blah. That's me, I'm not one of those that posted a selfie saying "no place I'd rather be on Saturday" and then left at the start of the third quarter.
