Since 2009 LSU hasn't brought in any SEC caliber talent at DT

Do yourself a favor and look at our DT recruits since 2009. That was the last year we had any kind of talent brought in at DT. IMO this is THE reason we are in no position to compete for championships.
What has gone wrong with LSU's recruiting at that position?
Dandy don link to recruiting classes
2009 was the year we got Sam, Logan, Mingo, Brockers, Davenport, Downs and Hicks.
Edited with consideration to recruiting areas.

Where does this and all bucks at LSU stop?

you do realize, that coaches don't recruit by position, right?

Just a coincidence I guess.

I understand, they recruit by area, not position. For instance, coach Raymond signed, Godchaux, Paris, Valentine, Battle, and Adams, last year.

It's just shocking that we haven't brought in any talent at DT in since 2009. The Chief was hired the same time so maybe he's to blame as well.
Regardless of who's to blame, this is the main reason LSU can't compete for championships right now.

We are young at DT. Calm down.

No we are thin AND mediocre at best. We have three guys that can't even get on the field because they are not good enough. They're not even good enough to give a starter a break for a play or two.

or maybe it's because every single DT\DE we have started over the last 4 seasons has left early?

dude, even if you discount Freak as being a "hometown" get, pretty much everybody wanted guys like Ego, Gilmore, Bain, Herron, Godchaux, and Valentine. look at their offer lists. I'm not mad at him recruiting-wise, it looks like coaching em up is hurting at the moment.
I know it's early in their careers, but I'm pretty much baffled that none of the Herron/ Bain/ Gilmore bunch is giving us anything with the guys in front of em not doing much either (Godchaux notwithstanding).

Sticks out more to me the lack of offensive lineman since tgen

They're recruiting every year.

Valentine will be a stud.
Valentine is basically not even on the team and from reports is way out of shape. I hope all works out for him but so far this is looking like another swing and a miss for LSU.

List them. Starting in 2010. Go.
While you're at it, take a good hard look at 2012.

Off the top of my head I know Frank Herron and Anthony Johnson were both 5 star guys. I really don't feel like going to rivals or 24\7 to look up guys but we bring in top 5 DE's and DL's in the nation on a regular basis.

The guys we have targeted early in the process chose to go elsewhere. Most the guys we ended up with, are guys we started recruiting late in the game because we missed on other guys. I think one year we didn't sign any DT's.

Anthony Johnson was the #1 DT in the country
Frank Herron was a 5* DT out of Memphis
Travonte Valentine was a top 5 DT out of Florida
I'll skip saying Godchaux or Deondre Clark for now
