I do think a lot of the confusion on defense, especially in the backfield is partly a transition issue.

While I think we were less talented at the safety spot last year, those 2 (Harper and Jenkins had been playing with one another as well as Greer for quite a while.

I really think that with time, the communication will improve, but the DL still isn't getting pressure for whatever reason like it did last season. Perhaps the rushing scheme has simply been figured out and needs some overhaul. For example, I think Galette is a very predictable rusher as is Cam at this point. This is where a healthy Victor Butler would have been a great addition to this front. Something new and creative.

Another thing is that the training camp made this team, particularly the defense very complacent and it has shown its effects in this first few weeks.

We need to play press man, move Vacarro all over the field, and let Byrd play the single high safety be was brought here and paid 10mil a year to do

Cam is doing great, but I'm fairly certain he's being double teamed at least.

I'm starting to think our DTs are just not disruptive enough.
Hicks is really playing poorly, and Jenkins is injured.

I definitely agree with this.

He could spy the QB and help containment.
Also, his coverage skills would definitely come in handy.

I have been saying this and getting flamed in the process. This team needs to have more of a bootcamp like atmosphere.

Our defense is fine, we only gave up 9 point this game. 9 frigging Point.

D was not amazing but got the job done.

Humber/Lofton played well

White had a nice game

KV seems to be getting there

Dline was getting some pressure but could be better.

Cameron Jordan and Junior Galette will be BIG for us the next 5-6 years.

Now the issue is can we add a Ngata/Suh/McCoy/Lotulelei caliber DT to this line? John Jenkins cannot do it alone and Hicks seems to be underperforming for all the talk of his greatness and power.

We're 1 star (pun intended) away from being a dominant line.

JG has gotten a lot of pressure... but the QBs have just taken that 1 step up where he flies right by

I would swear Galette was all over Ryan's feet in the ATL game but just couldn't get his hands on him for the sacks

but JG got 1 of Hoyer last week and both he (as blah as it was... touching down Bridgewater [I think it was TB] after he tripped on his O-lineman) and Cam got 1 today

I saw some improvement. The pass rush was a little better. #21 was seldom seen. They did a lot of bending, but no breaking. Lets keep making progress.

Defense played really well today. I think we will keep improving. Pressure was much better.

They scored 7 pts last week with their starting QB playing. The D did good to keep them out of the end zone but there was still a couple of breakdowns.

Starting to think that:

White > PRob
Humber > Hawthorne

Also, where the frick did Hicks fall off to? Huge let down from last year's performance so far

Bridgewater > Cassel

Also, you gameplan for one QB, the other is different in the sense he CAN be mobile if needed (6 carries for 27 yards). He's a pocket passer though.

The same team that whooped Cassel barely got by Oakland, so there's always that.

247 yards (188 passing, 59 rushing with a 2.68ypc)
40% 3rd down conversion
9pts

Patterson who put up 82 receiving yards and 102 rushing yards only put up 61 receiving yards and lost 7 yards on rush attempt.

Looks like a solid game to me.

We got lucky they dropped some passes. We were at home, playing against a rookie QB of Minnesota. If we are going to beat teams like Seattle who has their shite together, we need to get ours in tune.

Against a team with more than one playmaker(Patterson) and an accurate QB it wouldn't have.

Bridgewater is a pretty accurate QB. Even coming out of college, people predicted that. He had 2-3 bad throws, but most of his throws were on point and good placement.

Jennings is still a decent #2 option, and we held the opponents to 2.68ypc. Bulk of it coming from Bridgewater's 27 yards on 6 carries. The rest? 32 yards on 16 carries (2ypc).

Holding opponents, doesn't matter who, under 10 points and <250 yards is hard.

4 teams this week were held under 10 points, of the 4 3 were held to under 250 yards.

GB: 223 yards, 7pts, 1 fumble
Oak: 241 yards, 9pts, 1 INT
Min: 247 yards, 9pts
Ten: 326 yards, 7pts, 2 INTs

I'm not saying we're world beaters, but it was a solid game that we played like how we were supposed to. That's as much as you can ask for. Our offense stumbling and tripping over themselves for extended periods didn't help the defense out either.

Look at this:
1st Q:
1st drive: TD 80 yards
2nd drive: TD 82 yards

2nd Q:
3rd drive: PUNT 4 yards
4th drive: PUNT 21 yards
5th drive: PUNT 25 yards

3rd Q:
6th drive: PUNT 6 yards
7th drive: TD 90 yards

4th Q:
8th drive: End 70 yards

From 4:50 left in the 1st quarter until 12:22 left in the 4th quarter, we didn't score one point. 56 yards over a span of 37 minutes and 28 seconds.

This has happened to Minny in back to back weeks. I'm not saying the D had a bad day but there was still errors a better offense would've exploited.

Honestly, I think we would have destroyed them worse with Cassel in.

I'm still worried about our team in general, but going into the game we assume we weren't going to get scored on that much since its AP-less. We did our job, that's better than what we can say about week 1 and 2.

Our offense on the other hand worried me with the lack of movement for 30+ minutes
