Fall break is October 2-5, is it too cold for the beach?

The avg historical high is 84F with a avg low of 60F for that weekend.

Thoughts?

Great beach weather in my opinion.

What are your other options?

The Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores is usually the first or second weekend in Oct. The weather is usually great but traffic sucks due to it being held at the public beach area.

We are deciding between Destin and Austin, but this thread has us leaning pretty heavily now to Destin. Austin City Limits has a lame lineup this year so that's not a factor.

Perfect weather then. I got married there mid October and the weather was great. Still able to spend all day on the beach if you want and get in the water.

Hotel/condo rates are much cheaper then, less traffic and beaches aren't crowded at all.

We've started making a trip down to the beach house every October. Last year we needed a light blanket to watch the sunset on the deck. The water was a little too cold. On the beach it was almost too hot out from underneath an umbrella, and almost too cold underneath one.

ETA: I think a cold front was coming through when we went last year.
