I have been playing on my fender frontman since i learned to play in highschool. Now that my band is starting to get a little more serious, it's time for me to get a big boy amp. I play mostly classic rock, 90s pop rock, and a little bit of metal. Can this board recommend a good amp, preferably under $400?

They're the 70s group that recorded "take a load off, fanny", but that's not important right now

you're not gonna get an upgrade in that price range

if I were in the market for a gigging amp right now without spending a fortune it would be one of the ac15 tube models, you probably aren't playing places big enough to drown that thing out

look into a used Peavey Classic. it'll be hard to find a great vintage sounding tube amp in that price range, and definitely nothing boutique. and the Classic is capable of doing some metal...more of a chunky, less gainy tom morello kind of sound. anything with more gain than that, i'd go ahead and find a pedal that you like.

Here you go, jump on it:

BTW, Delta Blues 210s are 30w amps but that's still plenty loud for any bar gig. Great clean tone and decent overdrive. I like to play through the clean channel on these and use my Fulltone OCD for dirt. YMMV.

Honestly, he could find a bad arse amp for $400 but he's going to have to find it on Craigslist

yeah, I own vintage tube amps man

5 tube watts is still not loud at all for what he wants to do with it

30-50 watt tube amp or even 100 like a 70's ampeg V4

Fender Twin Reverb. Fender 212 Deville is good also. People will take you seriously, if you are slinging one of those.

I've seen Rivera Fender Concerts and the like for under 500 bucks on multiple occasions.

best suggestion. those amps are a solid bang for the buck. nice cleans and overdrive, channels with reverb and effects loop. hard to find an amps with those features for $400. save a few hundred more and find a carvin legacy combo.
