Just means tickets will be cheap for a while when we're making a run

The #Braves & #Astros have completed the framework for the trade. Gattis and RHP James Hoyte go to HOU for the 3 aforementioned prospects.

Will the Braves set a MLB record for least amount of runs scored this season?

According to Bowman, Folty will compete for the 5th rotation spot but will probably be in Gwinnett to start the season. Ruiz will begin in AA

Crazy that 9 of these guys were not in our system prior to the offseason.
So much depth now. I really like Mallex Smith and think he could make a major league impact and he's 21st for crying out loud. Pretty nuts considering a few short months ago we had one of the worst systems in the game.
But yeah, it's still lacking a premier bat or two. Hopefully Ruiz and Braxton can turn into just what we need.

I can dig some Aoki.
Our lineup isn't going to be too good, but were sure as shite going to be putting the ball in play a hell of a lot more. And Freeman might set the franchise walk record.

Astros fan here.
Congrats on getting Folty. I speak for a lot of our fans who did not want to see us give him up.
He's got some issues. He's a 1 1/2 pitch guy with a bit of a flat fastball, but is still incredibly young and has plenty of time to work out his issues.
Enjoy him. I'll surely miss him. He's your future closer (and probably an all star because that's what always happens to us)

Random thought in my head...we just got a new GM...do a lot of new guys do stuff like this to basically guarantee themselves 5 years or so of a job. Like nobody can be mad at him when we suck this year. I know it's necessary to rebuild, but seems like some good job security
Posted on 1/14/15 at 10:50 pm to TXGunslinger10
I agree. I would love to see them deal Kimbrel at the deadline. I think he could legitimately fetch two top 100 guys.
Posted on 1/14/15 at 11:44 pm to volfan30
Yep, and if Folty pans we have a replacement closer in the pipeline.
Posted on 1/15/15 at 7:48 am to volfan30
No need for Kimbrel now since we won't seriously compete for a few years and we now have Folty.

Why the hell do we refuse to give up Kimbrel? Whyyyyyyyyyyyy

Posted by RollDatRoll How about some Aoki action? He could leadoff too.
Another good fit and he's been mentioned too.
Want to see a team that is capable of manufacturing runs. One that makes productive outs and scraps instead of piling up strikeouts waiting for a three run homer.
Now if they can just get rid of "Bad Joke"
Posted on 1/15/15 at 10:44 am to Rig
They pretty much said the same thing about Heyward, Upton, and Gattis. Kimbrel will be traded for the right offer

We are an Aoki signing, Peraza call-up, and a third baseman away from being interesting. We could really use a 3B or LF that could hit behind Freeman though. Not sure we have anyone capable of batting cleanup now.
