I got my son the gaming computer from ibuypower that someone on the gaming board recommended and he loves it. However, his laptop is old and was only like $250 so he can't game on it.

he went to a friend's last weekend and took his whole computer with him. I was like wtf. So i think it's time for a laptop. the gaming board is not helping me

The alienware one is 4500. not happening. i'd like to keep it under 1k

How about this one? LINK

I can not listen to the whining about it not being fast enough or choppy or whatever.

Randy is going to be disappointed with a 15.6" screen. Under 1k for something real quality is going to be tough. Not impossible, but tough.

nothing. i'm getting this for him for christmas. his dad bought him wii u last night, no idea why. he never even plays wii. just xbox and pc games

tigerfanatic, can you recommend something not totally outrageous? i'll do more than 1k if it's my only option. i certainly don't want to waste my money on something that isn't going to do what he needs it to do

Alright. Since she said she might be willing to spend more than $1k, I said that this $1199 ASUS is by far the best value you can get: LINK

If her son bitches about gaming performance on that, he deserves to have all of his electronics taken away.

I also suggest another good value that would put her under her original budget, this Lenovo Y50 for $889: LINK

And she provided the specs of her son's iBuyPower desktop, and I told her that both laptops would actually outperform the desktop.

But that won't give her the attention she seeks.

The Asus l aptops you can get on Newegg for less than a grand. Might not be alienware but still has good specs for it.

They are good, and the only reason I didn't mention any MSI models is because of that ASUS laptop. Usually, MSI will have a slightly better bang for buck than ASUS, but this was the exception.
