Kirk Ferentz- I don't know how he does it. His brand of football is ugly and inefficient as hell, but teams always crap the bed against him.

Yeah... Decent is stretching this a bit... Although I guess this qualifies as decent in terms of the Big 10.

Doubt it. Brady Hoke's bad coaching actually results in losses. Ferentz's bad coaching usually means he'll pull a win out of his arse at the end.

People wonder why he is still there. That is why. He coaches a terrible game for 55 minutes, and then somehow Iowa wins. Fereznts was getting his arse kicked for 3 and a half quarters today, and then the magic happens.

The same thing happened against lowly ball state. Ferentz was coaching terribly, and then Iowa scores 14 points in 40 seconds to win. Only Malzahn has more luck.

Besides Gus, there is not a coach in the country who has better luck in the fourth Q than Feretnz.

Then why is he still there? It literally happens every single game. Feretnz's squad is losing going into the fourth Q due to shitty play, and then somehow wins due to fourth quarter crap.

If Ferentz were fired at the end of this year, Iowa would owe him $13.3 million, to be paid in monthly installments between now and 2020. That amounts to roughly $2.7 million per year.
